Rep Power: 0  |  Cheap way of communicating? Hi, My family is in UK and I want a cheap way of communicating with my contacts in the UK. I am planning to spend a lot of time in Chennai and hope to visit UK 3-4 times a year. I know a bit about Skype. UK subscription gives me a Skypein number. I have broadband connection in Chennai. If I buy a skype phone which does not need a computer to connect and plug it into the modem/router, will I be able to receive calls in Chennai when the Skypein number is dialled from a mobile/landline in the UK? Obviously it should be a local call rate for the caller. Secondly, can I dial UK numbers or any other "free" numbers from my Skypephone in Chennai, depending on the subscription I take? Does Skype or India block such calls based on from where the Skypephone is situated? Advice appreciated. VeeCee |

Rep Power: 11   | Hi VeeCee Welcome to IBB Skype is not blocked and you can use skype services in India without any problems, as per i can see you are using BSNL Broadband so there should not be any problem in that  Please check some more threads in Voice over IP section you may find some useful info about it Wish you a nice stay on IBB ~smoothvibes~ |
