Why spend so much money ? Usa skype mate it works out much much cheaper as compared to vonage and you can even get a US phone number with skype now which again is cheaper then vonage.
If you mean a voip phone when you say vonage adapter then I dont see any reason why it shouldnt work here in India.
Some one please correct me if I am wrong.. and please dont quote me on this one as I havent used it myself so cant say for sure.
Any one using vonage here in India?
It ships adapter to India and also provides support in India. Vonage does not provide either. The call quality with telifu is excellent and I am only paying 9.99 and making unlimited calls to India. I would recommend to give it a try. Telifu | Voip Service is the url

Vonage will be the better option. It has excelent service and highest number of free features which no other provider has.You can get Vonage router to India which you will gwt free from vonage but don't get Phone dapter because that cannot be configured
The advantage of Vonage or any other adapter is that one can make a call without starting the computer and logging in into Skype or Yahoo or any other voice service.
Hey dude..sssup....recently my brother in law has sent me Vonage V-portal from chicago....it will surely get configured as the v-portal itself is a router with 2 phone line connection...its easy to configure...as well....only u need is a high speed broadband...any queries please feel free to ask...tc..peace...
Hi dude...
Yep the vonage will surely work in India... but its way tooo expensive VOIP service. There are lots of cheap and very reliable VOIP providers in North America like (Acanac High Speed Internet. Low Cost DSL and VOIP Service, Internet Phone Service & Broadband Phone Service by ViaTalk VoIP, www.zingotel.com) All these VOIP providers support BYOD (Bring your own device). If you are little bit familiar with VOIP you can smiply ask ur GF to buy a VOIP voice adapter in India itself and you can either set it up from US via remote login.
The cheapest of 3 is acanac, you can get unlimited calling for around 9$ for if you take a year plan. Three good things about acanac is they will set up your service with in 1-2 hours after ordering, will refund the remaining amount if u decide to cancel the service before 1 year and they support G729 codec.
Hope this helps....
