    Default Whats App Voice Calls

I don't know if this is right opening a thread for this as this discussion maybe else where but unfortunately I could not find it, so opening this thread. There were rumors that WhatsApp was going to provide voice calls, and I think some people like very few people have this service and the other person can get is activated when someone calls them from WhatsApp. Is this true?

Apparently so, it is like on an invite basis only. Even my WhatsApp has been updated but nothing regarding calls for me either.

My phone has whatsapp calling feature now. It just started on its own, no one called me. I think they are doing this in phases to make sure there is no system overload.

Voice quality is not bad on whatsapp. I also find it much more easier and quicker to use as compared to skype.

I think most people who are using Android have automatically got their WhatsApp calling feature added on. It is was just in the beginning that the service is available by invitation only.

I also got the calling feature on my phone a few days ago, my WhatsApp was updated recently. Those who have not got the updated version of WhatsApp wont be able to receive calls unless they have the latest version downloaded.

yes; same here. have never, if IIRC, heard the caller's or receiver's voice on it, except once. perhaps the feature is still in beta stage?

Ok, so I thought I was someone special who got the calling service, but seems like everyone has it now.
Call quality is only good when using with a WiFi connection if you usewith your mobile internet connection call quality is not as good, then you are better off just sending a message.

The WhatsApp voice calls are not all that, first of all you need a good fast connection which means a connection of at least 2mbps in order for the voice quality to be good enough, else the voice will be unclear. On the plus side when you do use the calling service with a WiFi connection then the call quality is good.
Does anyone know what speed we get on a 3G mobile internet connection?

I tried this on MTNL 3g connections on both ends and voice gets through fine. There is a slight delay.

When I try receiving a call on my MTNL connection I see the call as a missed call afterwards because the connection is not good enough, it is the same with messages as well, they sometimes get delayed. MTNL is not a connection worth using to be honest, although other service providers are costly but at least the internet connection works well.

This is purely because of the mobile internet connection being used.
