Default How to start WhatsApp Calling?

Can someone please help me to on how I can start up WhatsApp calling on my mobile phone. I have heard that a lot of people have started making calls from their WhatsApp, I have updated the application and nothing has changed and I can not see anything new allowing me to make calls.

How do I get calls started on WhatsApp?

the activation of calling feature is limited to a few versions. the version you are on may get it after some days. for instance, i have v2.11.561, and that has the calling-feature, which i got activated by asking a friend to give me a call via whatsapp.

    1. get a compatible phone
    2. update to latest version
    3. get someone, who already has calling activated, to call you through whatsapp.

I am sure someone on the forum must have the WhatsApp calling feature, it would be so easy to start this service then. I thing I don't understand how did the calling feature initially start if no one had it?

i have that calling feature. the last version which had it was v2.11.561 i think, and i have that same version. the latest version available on playstore doesn't have the calling feature i think.

Edit: just realised that i've already posted in this thread earlier!

All my family members have skype on their phones and we have wifi to use it with so it is always free to call each other Whats app is a great text application and sharing pictures and small videos is great but I am not too sure about how the voice thing would turn out. I have paid for a year and got two years extension. It was a tiny amount so I paid it

Skype was the first option and was very popular when calling friends and family abroad, but I dont think i actually reached the success like WhatsApp did although it not not initially have the calling feature.

Most companies voice call revenues will take a hit atleast in cities like Bangalore, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai where a large amount of people use wifi at home and office.

Not long now all service providers will start their new packs for voice calls and we wont be able to use our normal data for voice calls. This means more money taken from us, another method for looting customers.

There is no way a company can prevent you from using voice over IP if you know youw way around. I believe if a mobile data service provider is preventing voip access then we should all just not use their service.
