Hi All,
I looking for a VOIP connection to US , presently I am in blore....How can I get this.

I tried approaching Airtel, but they are telling that I need to get approval from TRAI.

But I don't know how to get all those.....Kindly help me in this issue

What exactly do you mean when you say you want VOIP connection to US. I hope you mean you want the ability to call USA using your computer at cheap rates... is that what you mean?

TRAI only comes into play when you want to start a business on a commercial basis and sell services to other people here in India.

Actually I want to make calls from india to US. I mean I am working in a software company & now my company wants to get the business from abroad.

They want me to do marketing in US through telephone

So how can I approach my ISP for this

You dont need to even talk to your ISP.

All you need is a headset with mic... and follow these steps :

Go to Skype official website – free download and free calls and internet calls
Download skype
Create an ID
Choose the plan that suits you
deposit money using paypal or credit card
Start making and recieving calls.. They have an option where you can have a local USA number which will ring on your computer.

There are other companies as well but I find skype to be most reliable and provides good quality calls.


TRAI or your isp doesnt have to do anything with this so you dont need to call airtel atall as you can do all of this by yourself.

You dont even need to turn on ur your computer to make calls to US. All you need is a always on internet connection (dial up won't work). Just sing up for business VOIP service connection from tons of VOIP service providers in US. Here is the link to select voip providers...

They will send you VOIP adapter, if receving the adapter in India is a problem you can go for a BYOD (bring your own device) option, where the VOIP company will email you all the necessary accounts and you can buy adapter in india and configer. Just connect the voip adapter to your internet, hook your phone to adapter and your are all set to go.

Or you can ask your software company to get you a business voip conneciton on their name for you to do marketing.
