Default What is the best way to call India-US free?

I have two numbers in India which I need to reach frequently..

    1. home - has an internet connection... i am planning to use skype phone to do the trick... i think it ll work...

    2. other - doesn't have a fast internet connection (64kbps) not in a position to use any specific voip adapter...

is there any way i can call the other india number FREE or unlimited.

    Regards,

    Hi Ashley..

VOIP is best bet for your problems. There are some voip companies like (Acanac High Speed Internet. Low Cost DSL and VOIP Service) who support low bandwith codecs.. so even if you have a very slow internet connection in India VOIP will work. You also get unlimited calling, DID number (incomming number) and if you use VOIP adapter you dont even need to keep computer on to receive or make calls.
    Hope this helps...

Times have changed and I am sure there must be broadband available at both the locations. You can use either skype to call India on a voip device or you could use voip buster to call from India to USA mobile number of yours as voip buster gives 180 days of free calls to North America when you charge your account with any amount, I think minimum is $10

You can avail the latest offer from Vontrump, an online store of Vox Communications. It will give you 500 free minutes to call US, Canada and Puerto Rico in $2.99 only. It is as cheap as free!

Simple. Download Magic Jack/ Maguc Talk if u are using a PC/Laptop. Download MagicTalk App for iphone/Android as per your mobile. U r ready to call any US no for absolutely free provided u have Wifi ( Other option is sim must be activated for 4g which is not available in India right now).

Have you thought about a calling card to India? It isn't free, but for 1.5 cents per minute you can talk a long time for $2.00. And you can buy a $2.00 PIN. There are a lot of India calling cards on the market, but they have so many "gimmicks" you never get a good price. TelCan.com is different though. I like it.

Better to avoid hidden charges. Certainly, you do not want to pay extra fees after the initial payment. In these hidden charges, it includes connection and maintenance fees. So it is really wiser to know all these charges before purchasing any prepaid phone card.

Better option is to buy a SIM - TATADOCOMO
    recharge it with 58 rs/-
call US and Canada for 1paise /sec (1 minute -60 paise)

    International Tariff Voucher 58 rs/-
US & Canada Tariff of 1p/sec valid for 30 days.
ISD benefit 1p/sec is for first 27000 sec (450 min). ISD benefit is not applicable on Canada destination code-867

Yes Admin, times have changed...........................and now there are mobile applications that you can use to chat and talk.

Just download Viber or Tango application on your mobile phone, and use this application to chat or make calls, as long as the other person has the same application awell. The cost for chatting and calls will be free and only your internet data will be used.

I use NetTalk Duo to make free calls to my clients and relatives in the US and Canada. It also gives me a US number in India.

First year is $50. From 2nd year onwards it's just $30/year.

Is NetTalk something which you can download onto your mobile phone aswell. If there is an application to download, is it something which you can keep open all the time, because you said you have a US number, which means you would receive calls aswell.

NetTalk Duo is a VOIP device. You can read more about it here: http://www.nettalk.com/en/duo

My brother who lives in the US gave it to me. And yes, I can receive local calls from the US as well.
