Rep Power: 0 | Wish all the members all the best! I am a novice although a senior person. My problem is that I have some not so well to do relatives at different cities in India. I also reside in the capital of India new Delhi. I have to make frequent calls to them over STD:Many a time they have some urgent calls to make but since they are having only incoming facility on their landlines/mobiles they keep waiting for my calls. They cant afford a desk top. Although I can connect them through std but I wanted to minimize my phone bill. I have came across TPAD, SKYPE voip services. What I want to know is : 1. whether TPAD to Tpad voip calls-I have a multimedia computer- are really unlimited free as claimed or I have to buy credits on both the ends even for free calls i.e. for my cell and the recipient cell.I find that these calls are free for a few minutes-2 minutes or less. 2.Is there another way for free calls within Indian cities one party using voip and the other using cell/ landlines. 3. can I register the cells/landlines of my relatives in different cities over my computer with any voip ISP. Thanks ! vkwd7 |

Rep Power: 0 | Hi, This is Steven from Tpad.com All Tpad to Tpad Calls (IP to IP / PC to PC / VoIP Device to VoIP Device) are totally Free. You just create a free tpad account and you get your own personal Tpad Number (SIP Number) this number is for making and receiving calls worldwide. You simply dial your friends tpad number (e.g 1580021) using the Free Tpad Softphone or any VoIP Device (WiFi Mobile / IP Phone / ATA / Softphone) and the call will be Unlimited and totally Free. The only way you will be charged if you Call Forward this call to your mobile / landline (cost cheap tpad voip rate to your country) - this is very handy when you are away from your PC ! - never miss a call again. If you need more help then send me an email to steven.johns@tpad.com and i will give you some free test credit to try our services.. Regards Steve Tpad - 3 in 1 Homepage The Global VoIP Network |

Rep Power: 0 | What is the use sir of free credit when one cannot make free TPad to Tpad calls in India despite your claims to the contrary. for example: I have one softphone on pc and 2 others have been registered with their mobiles. All the 3 have their verified and valid tpad numbers. whenever I try to call from my softphone any of the TPad number, instead of connecting the numbers by voip, I get the message the number is not available and so record the message over voice mail for delivery to the receipient. The tragedy is that in all the cases the voicemails and call forwarding have been disabled in manage accounts. The wave files are faithully delivered to the receipients. Now you see the more of a hoax! when you dial the verified mobile.phone number with full country code -the same which belongs to Tpad number and is stated to be not available earlier is available and on calling your credit starts diminishing. to make the things clear: Tpad no 1578901 calls on softphone tpad no 1579527 - voice message not available. tpad no 1578901 calls on softphone tpad no 1580699 --not available. now user 1578901 calls full verified phone no00919910xxxxxx and nos 009198108xxxxx and calls are connected immediately and your credit vanishes. Is this the free calling throughout the world! I shall be seeking refund of my credit purchased by wrong ful declarations. As regard xlite it did work for once only and thereafter it behaves just like TPad soft phone. vkwd7 |

Rep Power: 12 | There is no service which would come free of charge for calling a mobile phone in India on one end and a PC on one end. If you can manage to have a pc on both the ends then skype is the best option and is free of charge without you having to pay any registration charge or anything.. All you have to do is create an id for yourself and start calling, it also has video chat which is again free of charge if you have skype at both ends. When a voip call terminates into a regular land line phone or mobile phone the government charges about 3-4 cents per min ( I am not too sure about the exact amount) so the free service idea just goes out of the window in the first place and now the chargable calls will cost atleast 10-12 cents per min which again makes the phone to phone calls cheaper in either case. Voip calls to a phone in North america and Europe are cheaper and the reason is their governments dont charge as much as the govt of India does but then again a pc to phone call is not free anywhere in the world.. the reason being why would a service provider provide such service when they wont make any money out of it? All in all : Stop looking for a free pc to phone service coz thre isint one. Some companies like globe7 says they provide free pc to phone calls but its just promotional thing with some terms and conditions. |

Rep Power: 0 | Vkwd7: Thanks for raising the issue on within-India calling. I was considering Tpad for my sis in the US and some of my relations in Hyderabad, but now I've made up my mind to try others. ADmin: Thanks a ton for simplifying the Voip jargon for me! BTW, any suggestions on who I should try for ph 2 ph calls? Have tried Vonage, not found it helpful as we are non-tech and Vonage is not installing here in India. Moreover, Vonage is not legal in India, I heard. Thanks. Agnee |

| Platinum Member | Bottomline - there are no free lunches. For phone to phone calls, I used to use Reliance Calling Cards. I got tired of dialling so many code (toll-free number + number to call + 11 digit calling card number). And then I get dropped calls, no dial-in, echo's, etc. So now I use PC to PC or PC to Phone calls only using Skype or Yahoo. Skype is better in clarity whereas Yahoo is cheaper. At 8c a minute, I am OK with this.

Rep Power: 0 | The service by Reliance is not called icall it is Reliance India call Voip calls are free from anywhere to anywhere in the world be it in between Indian cities or to another country as long as both ends are using a computer or voip device. As long as there is no land line phone involved its all free for the time being. Use skype as its technology is the best as compared to other voip providers and the call quality you would get would be the best. And by the way this is very annoying >> Quote:
