I need any voip service, the cheapest one to call Oman. Is there any one out there?
I tried jajah - 30 cents/min
skype - abt 23 cents..something like that.

I cant find any cheap calling rates for calling oman from my PC here. Can anyone suggest any reliable service for it? Something abt 2-3 cents/min.

Ever tried a provider from India itself? I think you'll get more competitive rates from local Indian companies than US companies!

Not sure of PC to PH, but I do know of 2 companies providing ph to ph. Check out their rates at these links

Convex = around 6.82 INR (I know it's high, but much better than 23)

I know from my friend that Matallo's service & cust. service has been degrading in the past few months. He was mad at them...

Not sure about Convex, though. They seem to be a new player.

Matallo= 23 cents, considering average 1 USD= 40 INR

Haven't seen any voip co. provideing below this. Maybe calling Gulf is really expensive!!

And thought I would update you too... To use their service, you need to install a VOIP device called an ATA.

Just spoke to their cust. service dept. for my sis's connection

1. Matallo picked up in 3 min, Convex 9 in 1.5 minutes
2. Both require you to install their VOIP device (called ATA) or get your own.
3. Convex 9 claims it will help you remote (over the ph) install their device (on-site available in Hyderabad, Chennai, Vijayawada in AP and surrounding areas) and give free over the ph tech support (not sure if it's 24x7) as long you use their service.
Matallo made no such claim, and referred me to their FAQ page instead, and said I could call their cust. support no. for any further issues.

Since I live in Hyderabad, Convex9 guys say they'll come to my place and install free. I guess they are based in this city only.

I'm planning to check on others.

This is still too costly. I live in Gujarat. I dont mind Ph to Ph either but something that is quite cheap bcz i am going to call a lot every month to Oman. Unluckily skype phones not in india and oman otherwise it should have worked. wouldnt it?

Any other cheap alternative..something upto Rs.2/min.

How about Yahoo! Voice - PC to Phone. I am not sure about the rates.

Just checked from Yahoo website. It works out to 18c/min.
