I heard that you can get VOIP phones, but i don't know how successful they are. Anyone used them before? How well do they perform? Are they available in India and if so how much for?

I am not too sure if you can get them in India but I have seen a few on ebay ...

The wifi ones are good as you can even carry it to your lawn or anywhere neary by aswell...

You can buy a wifi voip phone for anything $35 upwards.

Oh its a shame there is no where in India that you can get a VOIP from, although i will try ebay....Thanks

There must be some shops its just that I dont know of any.

To make call to friends who are online, Gtalk also is pretty much convenient to use.

Yes, VOIP are certainly not available in India.But big call center service companies have this VOIP services for the business purposes.

Hi, I myself did some hectic research on voip phones to be used specifically via skype.
There are different types of phones for this puprpose
1) wired
2) wired usb with cordless
3) wifi phone requiring no pc
4) dual phone cordless requiring no pc

well the most intresting lot seemed to me the last 2 categories all start in range from rs 4,000/ approx.
Well wifi phone is a simple cell phone like instrument which connects via wifi network if availaible at home/office to connect to skype, various models availaible - smc , netgear , belkin , asus.

but more superior phones what i liked also in the similar range approx 150$ or so were the dual phones, which connect to both your landline and skype voip service simultaneously
here also available from netgear sph200d , philips voip841 , ge 28310ee1- availability in india seems to be problem , but netgear suppliers can bechecked out.
also cool thing about the last variety is u can add upto 4 cordless phone to the existing setup.
Only the ge model allows u to shift through calls and do conferencing between landline and skype call.Intresting!!!!
