Hi
can anyone suggest a reliable and cheap domain name registrar??
Generally the providers abroad have $10 price while indian providers have lower rates. There are several indian sites providing cheap registration but dont know if they are reliable.
would be really helpful if someone can suggest a cheap and reliable registrar

I would strongly advice you against using any Indian registrar.

The registrars I use are :
Godaddy.com
namecheap.com

For .co.in and other Indian tld's which are not available at the above registrars I use :
indomains.net

The best way to find out a reliable registrar is by searching their reputation online. Many registrars in India, that I heard, might create you a problem when you want to do something with your domain name, for example, changing the DNS. Instead of wasting your precise time in searching for someone through this method, go for a famous and reliable registrar.

In this case too, only few reliable registrars are available. The rates between them and godaddy (the best registrar, IMO) is not huge. In my case, I always prefer to register my domain through google apps + godaddy (Yes, there is a tie-up between godaddy and google apps in this regard) that gives a lot of advantages like privacy (your contact details won't be shown when somebody tries whois information).

There are also some sites which has less fees for domain registration.Some of those sites are Yosro.com and gigapros.com.They charge less than nine dollars for a domain registration.

If you are from India try an Indian registrar like dfordomains.com they sell domains for $7.59 !

I have bought domains earlier from indiatimes, name cheap, godaddy and they are all good.

Its always good to choose the reputed sites, that you know that you have a secure domain name. I have heard Go Daddy is on the of the best, although they charge around the $10 mark, but its worth it.

Godaddy.com is the one good option for the cheap domain names.

don't just go with a cheap price for the first year, see what the renewals are for the domain name, as some companies would charge you less or even free for the first year and then you will have to pay through your nose for renewals. Generally godaddy is quite good.

Godaddy is world renoved, but you need a CC or a verified paypal.

Also, godaddy has much -ve feedback and few claim that it reserves the domain and registers itself to sell for a higher price later of a particular domain is searched for availability by more users or more times.

Name is good and is a sound alternative to godaddy and giving it a tough fight.
Name also has a good control panel.

Namecheap.co and nae.com are also good serch for Domain Coupans before you buys so u can avail some discount

godaddy, renewal is simple but they keep pressing you to buy other stuff from them while checking out which is annoying.

Hmm thts correct there check out process is annoying but any way they are the best in domain registrts but dont take hosting from them its very bad

Ya i know the domain registrar called xnynz.com .Here i found the domain registration service at cheap price. You can get the domain names at $7.99/year.

Godaddy is one of most trusting domain registering and hosting site and you can host in snoorkhosting also, which is cheap than godaddy

don't go with Godaddy, i have seen they suspend your domain if it hosts illegal stuff (happened with few people) and they don't even transfer the domain.

So don't go with Godaddy.

Namecheap is the best and also name is good.

Is it ? My friends too had some issue with their hosting. But never knew about domain issue.

Avoid net4.in. I have had many issues related to support with them. They just don't bother.

domain name is only a name. you may survey around the new sign up and renewal price. Do remember to register your domain name under your name so that you have the owndership over your domain.

indeed, they suspended a guy's account + they froze it, even did not allow to transfer to other registrator service.

He sent a legal notice to them as his dad was lawyer and than they gave his domain back.
