    Default Google sites help

    Hi,
I am trying to build a website. I chose Google sites ( since i don't no html and all). Now in home page, side bar will show sub pages, but when we take a subpage under home page and and subpages to this page, it is not shown in sidebar. Instead it is shown in the bottom. ie, if i add pages to this subpage, it will not be shown in the sidebar but in the bottom most portion " where people are surely going to miss". Do you know any method to overcome this.

I need to share a few exe files through this site. If i create a link " Download" , where should it point. Like how can i provide download facility.

Or any other site like this. I am new to this and will be needing a simple and user friendly editor. Thanks in advance

To add a page in the Navigation Box

    1. Click Edit sidebar link under the Navigation menu
    2. Click edit link in the Navigation box
    3. Click Add page to sidebar navigation link in the Configure Navigation box
    4. Select the page you created, Click OK
    5. And Click Save changes button to apply the changes.

I don't think Google sites allow uploading of .exe of .zip files. You can try Geocities by Yahoo. You need to have a yahoo account to use this service.

I have configured Navigation. The problem is the navigation bar is the same for all pages. See, navigation bar shows sub pages to home and those we add. Is it possible to have a separate navigation bar for sub pages. It will be impossible to add all sub pages> sub pages to navigation bar.

Nice to hear it was useful for some.

Can anybody suggest a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor. I am a bit confused. I don't know which to choose.

Try KompoZer - downloads... Its excellent WYSIWYG editor... Used by beginner to pro web developers...

If your website is gonna have loads of content... A better option will be to use a CMS like Joomla! or Drupal... Joomla! being the easier choice...

Best thing is all are opensource... i.e. free!

"Google sites is the best thing to hit the web since Google Apps. For a long time I'd been wanting a way to have a more private area, where others could still contribute without having to give them full administrative privileges to my domain - and Sites fits the bill and then some. I've used it to support many varied activities including private notes and conversations with clients, keeping track of my home schooled children's assignments and homework, letting them create their own web pages, collaborating with others on content for books and engineering designs, and even sharing pictures of our new dog with my family. It's easier and faster than a wiki, I can control who can see or contribute to a given site, and it's just downright fun to use!
