I am not going to register/subscribe to anything new related to yahoo. they are shutting down their services one by one. first they closed yahoo briefcase. now they have officially announced that geocities will be closed by the year end.

My primary mail id is of yahoo for the last 7 + years. I dont know what will happen if they close email service also.

The domain names which are for $1.99, is that for all domains or just certain ones?

And saurav if what your saying is true, then i suppose it would be quite risky buying a domain from Yahoo, after all if some of their side lines are closed down then it would be a problem when needing to renew the domain name, and even worse if its in the middle of the year, then you will just have to pay additional money to have the domain name transferred.

Those who are worried about next year pricing or yahoo shutting down can transfer their domain names to another registrar.

But do it atleast 1month before renewal data

for details check yahoo page or source

Yes Preeti. There is some risk associated but rest assured that even if yahoo decides to close any of its service they will declare it well in advance (about 6 months) like they announced the shutting down of geocities a few days ago.
