U can use any content management system like Joomla, Drupal , Post Nuke ..etc with suitable modules. Word press also can opt. Most of the hosting service provides cpanel with Fantastico.

There are many modules available, you can write a simple ASP program yourself which will copy the names of the software updated in a specific folder and post it automatically in your main page.

Iam using Joomla. Post Nuke also tested, but feel Joomla is more flexible, Good support from Forum and vast collection of modules

i would go with joomla as well, wordpress can also do but is not as detailed as joomla which is meant for bigger apps. Personally if you are serious about the article business, go in for a custom script... it will cost you but the end result will be worth it.

Agreeing to Joomla being one of the most preferred CMS, there is also a small Con to it. Joomla requires some amount of webmaster skills for use, plus Joomla lags behing when it comes to security. Websites using Joomal are reported to have been hacked more than any other. But, the latest version of Joomla can be expected to be more secure. It is recommended that you let professionals take care of this part. There are experts in Joomla who can help you in this.
