Thread: Regarding Web Hosting

Well i am read a few topics and threads for Web hosting.
And i am really thankful to all for their commments.

Well i am a web developer and i have some exclusive clients. Further i have around 10-15 of the websites that have more then 15000 hits per day.

So i have decided to host the website from my computer, specially for my clients and my personal use. Therefore it will be semi commercial. Since i will not be open for public, i have no threat for pron or similar.

Further i have purchased Genuine License version of Windows Server and hosting Panel Software. also i have 1 quad core and 1 dual core 64 bit system.. i will be opting to buy a new one

Now after this,the main probelm arise.As i started testing the software, i came to know that my ISP(reliance bb) blocks AD ports 465 and some other that i need to connect my server cluster and AD is required for synchronization.

Now i am searching for a isp with which i can start my services. since i am in delhi, i looked for MTNL, but for their unlimited plans its mentioned, not for commercial use.

So i am in a stuck.

And as per mtnls tarrif page i came to know that they dont allow commerical or server usage.

And lastly i need to set up a reverse IP ie PTR record to my domain. and that could be setup by isp only.

I need help from all forum members, My major requirement is a web host that could provide unlimited internet at cheaper or atleast normal rate, and that it could set up a ptr record pointing to domain.

The simple solution to your problem is purchase a Managed DNS Package were there is no need to have active directory needs as you can directly point your website to your server IP address.

Wifi4india Internet Services (Wifi4india: Wireless Broadband from Wifi4india) is providing Managed DNS Service you can check it.

In the above setup you can start info you have mention that you want to start webhosting service then there is not need to host DNS server on your system you can do it with Managed DNS Service.

I have Ad based authentication for 2 of my clients. For that i need to have DNS Server at my side.
My most important requirement is PTR Record for mailing.
Anyways i welcome and acknowledge your comments.

Meanwhile if any more suggesions or comments, Please HELP.....

What kind of authentication you are using Ad based authentication for 2 of my clients

As webhosting it is totally depends on your server which includes IIS, Apache, MS SQL, MYSQL etc... for client they can do it by FTP server, so there is not need to have this AD deployment if you are using for FTP or any other purpose as it make your task more difficult.

always try to make your task hassle free and fully automated.

its not Ad, its AD (Acive Directory,i thought you misinterpreted it)
My clients have there invoicing and villing operations online. We use LDAP and other similar.Exact details i cannot mention here.

and i am myself mcts, in AD and App. Infrastructure. so its not that complex setting up everything for me. Further i have purchased dotnetpanel std edition, which requires DNS servers to be on same set. but some things like the ptr record can be setup by IP provider only.
and thats the point of concern.

Mention the type of connection Standard Broadband or Lease Line
What IP series your ISP allotted to you first check on blacklistalert.org if its registered on any website then you have the issues of SPAM emails
Your can ask your ISP to set the PTR to your domain what ver you want with FQD domain A record.

If all above given condition are fulfilled then only you can start web hosting other wise forget about web-hosting as to run a web-hosting is not that much easy what you are supposing.

It invloves lots of time investments as you are saying that some confidential data is also there on your server then you have to deploy the Hardware level firewall like BlueCoat or Junipher are some few names...

Dear,i know all perspectives, right now i am on reliacnce 123.236.x.x series.
i have tested all, and everything working fine.

My problem is neither reliance nor mtnl allow unlimited internet for commercial usage.


Thats my only point of concern, i have purchased Wind Sever2k8 and panel,i must have seen all these perspectives before buying.

I just wanted to know is there an ISP that would allow unlimited usage for web server usage and also will set up PTR record for my FQDN
This is my only concern.

Contact TATA they can help you in this regard as they have provision for PTR...

Just consulted with reliance for Business Unlimited Plan for 4500.
they say they dont know what a ptr is and they dont have any reference for PTR reverse lookup.

I just cant believe, such a big host and they have no information for PTR....
Well indeed india is backward,and its sad to say but, it will be.............

Although airtel said they provide such things when i apply for Static IP seperately.
However i have not listened to airtel people.
i have made installation charges and others formalities.
but now, more then 20 days and they have not contacted me till now.
I think these guys just want money and nothing else. they have promised installation in 3-4 days. but nothing yet........
i am waiting for one month period. as a lawyer i know how to sue them for non compilance of commitment.

i am waiting for ten more days......

Now days most of the companies collect money with their franchises so these guys don't have any knowledge about the technical feasibility they just get the order from company that collect the amount from customer on particular address and deposit into their account once company get the deposit then they start the technical feasibility survey.....

the problem is not feasibility
The company has airtel underground lines in our area.
but the DP box was full. and even after two months the company is was in not inmood to set up new DP box..

One Phrase for airtel.
