It is famous to use those domain name, or more people still prefer .com as the most common usage.

A friend of mine got the domain name as .me . I prefer .com or .net or at least .org. But it is clearly your choice.

I wish they had stuck to the original specification, with .net and .org being restricted as before. Even .com could have been kept for commercial organisations. .me is a great idea for personal domains.

I don't feel any need or superiority in .com. It is nice to to give people an idea of what or where you are.

Anyway, it is bit before the dot that matters!

Most people tend to type .com instead of .net or .org. Unless it is bookmarked or an established site which can be found on Google suggestion, it is beneficial to use .com domain. If you are planning a personal site for a bit of comments and photos, you can choose other domains for a change. But still most of your friends type it as mysite.com than other extension.

I belong to one ----.org forum. Fairly sure its owner wouldn't have got govt permission for that: he would have used a no-hassle domain name.

.net is no longer restricted to network infrastructure people.

    I regret this dilution.

I personaly like .co.in and .in domains as they represent out nation but otherwise my vote always goes for .com or .net

.co is way too expensive if compared to other TLD's

that for sure .CO is more expensive. But as you say that .CO.IN will be sound more professional, like from professional company such as trading company or lawyer firm.
