    Default Remote Desktop Connection-over Internet

    Hi,

I hope many of us might have tried this, but became unsuccesful due to various reasons like dynamic ip address, not configuring port forwarding..etc.
Is there anyone who has succesfully done this over the internet?

If Yes, please tell me, even if you get the ip address from the router side (which your ISP had assigned), will that ip address be unique? Suppose you are trying to access the comuter in India from UK, will it work?
Or maybe another ISP has assigned that same ip address to someone else in India??

    Any networking specialists here?

    Regards
    Nevin,.

Try TeamViewer - Free Remote Access and Remote Desktop Sharing over the Internet and configure a permanent connection to your home PC. You can even reboot the PC remotely.

Thank you, I appreciate your inputs, but I'm not looking for a third party software to implement this. I am looking for a solution with port forwarding, and to mess with dynamic ip address. I am not trying to access my PC remotly, but trying to stream live video (with an ip cam) connected to an ADSL router.

Suppose, Airtel has assigned me the ip <20.60.144.249>. Will there be only my computer having this ip (not considering intranet, and other private networks)?? How will other ISP's come to know that this IP has been assigned, or is it like there is a specific range that each ISP's have been allocated?

I am not sure about Airtel's IP range. But all ISPs provide dynamic IP which is assigned to each connection. Unless you are in a separate plan for shared IP, you have an IP for your own. For example, my IP will be assigned only to my connection until the lease time expires or I reboot the modem/connection.

Yes, even I dont know there ip range, but is it like only one ISP had that ip address (assigned to a client) at the same time? Does IANA provide any specific protocols for this?

Each ISP has its own IP range. In case of BSNL, 117.xx.xx.xx and 59.xx.xx.xx are assigned to its customer. You can ask in Airtel forum or wait for some Airtel user to reply to this thread.
