Exclamation How to setup remote IP Camera

    1. I have a 160N Linksys ADSL router.
    2. Edimax IC3030Wn wireless ip camera

I am able to access the camera fom my internal network. Since we are always assigned a dynamic ip from the ISP's I registered myself with "Dyndns", so that they keep track of my changing ip address.
I contacted Edimax support, where they asked me to do port forward for 8080and 554. I did that and I tried to access the camera from the link given by dyndns, but what I get is the authentication page for my linksys router setup, and not my camera. Has anyone setup an ip camera with a dynamic ip, please let me know.

And, one more thing, even thought I registered with dyndns, they might be aware of the public ip address, not the private ip that my router is going to assign to the ip camera. How can the router be sure that the request has come for the ip camera, since the port forwarding is done for the private ip address, and the hyperlink has not specified the port!!

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thank you
    Nevin!!

Assign a static LAN IP to your Edimax IC3030Wn wireless ip camera say 192.168.0.10

Port forwarding need to be set up in your router, like forward 554 to 192.168.0.10

Once this is done, you will be able to use URL like: myusername.dyndns.org:554

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply, and yes it was working well till lask week, until when I got the mail from Dyndns that they have deactivated my account since my router is giving too many updates, and so they put my account in the category of "abusive updates". How can I prevent this? Any option with the WAG160N ADSL router?.. I think the device is programmed to send the updates with some time frame.. How can this be checkeD???

    Regards
    Nevin.
