Default Which broadband supports hosting in India?

    Hi,

I want to host my websites myself. Is any broadband company support hosting?
    I am from Tamilnadu Chennai.

Broadband connections in India are not fast and stable enough to enable you to host a website from home and it would be a lot cheaper to host one with some shared host in USA or Europe.
    Try hostgator.com for shared hosting.

Hostgator is not handling much traffic. I m hosted in hawkhost. But they also sucks. They are not providing reliable hosting.

Reliable hosting are pretty costly. But I am sure you are right. In India, it is full of politics and worst service.

How much bandwidth do you need per month ?

As advised above, I think running a host is not a good idea because

    1. Speed and rate are directly proportional each other.

    2. Speed and data are inversly proportional to each other.

    3. Cost of electricity will be high.

    4. Possible down time is high considering the maintenance time of servers, long power cuts unless you have a good UPS, high internet downtime which may last more than a day due to water clogging in rainy season, disconnection issues and various other reasons.

See if you can partner with someone who is already running a server successfully. That may be a bit more economical than using hosting providers. But service and up time will be the best with reputed providers.

What is the website about? What script? Is it image hosting or file hosting kind of thing? if not then a site using 300GB a month should be able to make enough money to afford a dedicated server.

I have been using hostgator since 2005 and I have never had any problems atall.

It is a kind of image related website. But not image hosting. It is using imagemagick software to create images, I don't store images a lot in server.

I am right now in VPS plan, with 2gb ram.

How much are you paying for that VPS with 2gb ram and what control panel?

DO you know how to manage a dedicated server yourself? if you do then it might actually be cheaper for you to get a dedicated box with 8GB ram and a decent processor.
If you can give out a bit more detail about what resources your site uses the most then I can give you some options.

I don't know how to manage.
It is actually 1gb ram plan. But they are giving double.

My site is just using imagemagick. and i have few sites which are not getting much traffic. Only this imagemagick script is getting few visitors. Now it is down however

The cost right now is $60
    It is also unmanged vps.

dedicated server with 8gb, how much does it cost, if it is unmanaged. I can get help from my friend. Once it is setup, I can do simple works myself. I know the basics

Hre's something within your budget : LeaseWeb offers Dedicated Hosting, Colocation, Enterprise and Cloud Solutions
Its got 4GB Ram and a processor that would give you a lot more power then you have got in your VPS.

    Whats your max budget?

    Heartly thanks for this.

Budget is not much. But the one you gave me has really very good configuration. I can spend $70 right now.

Maybe, If i get good visitors, I will spend more.
