Default Free webhosting with Cpanel for www.indiabroadband.net members

    Hello members,

I have seen lots of members with signature links to their websites but most or shall we say many of them point to free services which are pathetic to say the least and some of you even have free domain names or in some case just subdomains that you get for free.

I don't have a problem with that but I see some of you have written some extremely good stuff but that wont ever be appreciated unless you have your own domain name and sold webhosting to make sure your website is live all the time.

The reason I have opened up this thread is that I would like to know that how many of you would like to get free Cpanel webhosting if www.indiabroadband.net offered it free of charge? We could even think about buying you a free domain name if lots of people come forward.

For those who don't know what Cpanel is: Cpanel is the easiest to manage webhosting control panel with lots of one click installs and what not.

The hosting we would be looking at would be on a dedicated server with SSD raid config with less then 200ms latency to India but strictly no bullshit and no torrent flux or illegal crap. Those people who want to start up without investing any money are most welcome and I would be happy to help you out till you start making money off your website and then you can move to a paid web hosting else where which would be extremely easy as we would be using Cpanel.

So how many of you are interested?

Please hit the poll as well and I would appreciate if you could hit the facebook like and G+ at the bottom of the page.

Its something I have looked into many times, but don't know about it at all as I never knew where to start or how to do things. If a free domain and hosting is offered, Im hoping that we would get tutorials or even direct help from you.

I am not too sure if we would get free domains but hosting yes. Also it is a good idea to own your own domain. If we do offer free hosting then I am alwas here to help those who need help. I dont mind installing a few scripts if anyone would want some help but thats only when I have free time as I also have other things to do but I would make sure the server stays up and running 24/7 without a problem Most of the commonly used scripts will be available in cpanel to install with a few clicks any way.

I would be interested into hosting space because it is difficult to find decent free one. I usually try freewebhostingarea dot com. They are okay. For domain i uses the dot (.) tk upto 2 free domain but the only thing is that it had .tk at the end. but yeah completely free. Thinking of purchasing my own domain name.

The best option would be to buy your own .com or .in or whatever domain you want and use free hosting. The server I would get for this purpose if we have enough demand would have a good 32GB ECC RAM and SSD drives instead of 7200rpm slow coaches The space every one would get would be limited because we wont have a lot of space to begin with so may be 3-4GB per head or may be 5GB but the websites hosted on that server would fly Processors would be top notch and would have clud linux installed so no one would have complaints about shared environment. 32 GB is a lot of RAM and I believe the websites being brand new wont have much traffic either so for a year or two no one would have a slow loading website and those who start getting good amount of traffic can fine a paid host and leave our free space at that time

    Makes sense?

But the problem is I wont get the box until we have a lot of people interested because getting such a monstor for hosting a couple of websites with hardly any traffic would be a waste of money.

Well that is a point. I am not an expert server admin and I have made my share of mistakes in the past as far as managing a server goes but this server wont be managed by me. It would be managed by the same company that manages this server (server where our form is hosted) which leaves little room for doubt about the ability to keep the server online all the time

It would have cloud linux so visualization would be very good. It would be very near to having your own dedicated server but in this case for free

^^ LOL.. That's funny you would say that.. It's not the case. The problem is that this thread isn't getting enough exposure. Most of the visitors are looking for the solutions to their broadband issues. Many regular members like me have our own hosting account. This is an excellent offer for people planing to start blogging, etc.

However, it needs to get some exposure like the contest thread is getting at the top or maybe some backlinks on web hosting forums, social networks, etc.

No matter how good is a product/service, it requires marketing to sell off/grabbed!

Thats it? 5 people? I would gain more customers in an hour if I started a paid hosting service and there are no takers for free hosting that too with Cpanel where I take care of server management?

I am not going to deploy a new server for 5-6 startup websites. It would really be a waste of money dont you think?

This is the server we would get once we have enough members on board :
    Intel Xeon E5-1650 3.2 GHz (6cores 12 threads)
    Intel Smart Cache: 12MB

    RAM - 128 GB DDR3 ECC

    2x 160GB SSD (S3500) RAID 1 (LSI MegaRAID 9271 6Gbps 1GB DDR3 Cachewith Cache Vault + Fast Path )

200Mbps uplink (It would be dedicated not shared)

The server would have Xcache enabled so even though it would be shared by a few websites but as we would have 128GB RAM we could afford each website using Xcache and it would make page loads a lot faster then what you would get on a shared hosting environment.

For those planning to host a wordpress blog on this box it would make sense to use W3 total cache and use Xcache and your pages would load under 1.5 seconds on first view and half a second for second view.

Besides whats listed up there this box would also have either nginx or litespeed as a proxy to Apache which would make page loads even faster. If we have enough people interested then I can also set up Railgun for you.

Any other suggestions are most welcome.

The only thing I wont let anyone do is send mass e-mails from the server. If you have a genuine reason to send a few thousand e-mails for example to your forum members or blog subscribers then that could be looked into but spamming would be strictly prohibited.

I am on board. This server is going to cost a bomb. Why not get a lower end cheap server in the beginning and not have Xcache and other resource intensive things?

I would start a forum and a blog once this server is setup.

busted graphics card. won't give display to the screen. VGA output worked fine but slowly the touchpad, keyboard and vga died too. Now need to replace the m/b. The replacement m/b was without graphics card and was taking way too long and as my work was suffering I got an old desktop. SO my gaming days are over now.

Thats the whole point. The main reason why we would get this server and provide free hosting is that when some one starts up a new website they normally start up using a shared hosting account where you dont get much resources and your websites performance suffers due to that and pages load a lot slower then ideally required to rank well these days. I would like our members to have the best of the best and for that we do need this box as a bare minimum to begin with if someone wants to make their website a success. The main reason why most websites fail is that they cannot afford good hosting and no good hosting normally means slow loading pages which Google doesn't like and would eventually rank you lower then faster pages. Fast pages is not the only criteria though but thats something which costs a lot and everything else can be done yourself so I am just trying to help people cut costs they would incur on a top notch server thats all.

Let this server go on line and you be surprised to see the performance of the pages hosted on it.

Even with Xcache and Memcache enabled what would you do with 128GB RAM? Its a waste of money I would say and that CPU is an over kill my friend. That CPU along with 128GB ram combined with SSD drives would be enough to run thousands of websites. Xcache would reduce CPU load and also with nginx or litespeed whatever you use and I can only imagine how fast the pages would load.

Can we also have Varnish please?

Thats a dream server by the way for most webmasters. I would love to have a piece of that

Not many people would make use of Varnish and it also needs some work on websites that want to use it which I believe would not be ideal. We would have litespeed page cache in use if we get litespeed. Nginx works a little differently.

You dont have to worry about speed. Once you have your website up and running just let me know if you see your pages loading slower as compared to any other website using same script as yours and we can work some thing out Leave the speed bit to me as thats what I work on all day every day. Its a different thing that I havent had time to work on my own websites LOL. We dont even have any caching in place for this forum for example. I guess I should spend a day or two getting this forum supercharged I am sure members here would like a faster forum although its not particularly slow even now.

Do you find this forum slow?

The forum is pretty fast. If it gets any faster I think we'll have to call it Tachyon.
