The rest of your space must have gone into the free space pool ... Its just extra space that is not partitioned and is not shown in windows..
Commonly happens when you try installing another OS in your hard drive ...
Did u instal Some other OS?
May be that the what 'ShAdOwCoN' says otherwise check the jumper setting(master and slave) and connect the jumper into master.I had faced similar problem when i used old 40 GB Seagate hdd once jumper setting change and my hdd limited into 32 GB
yes i installed two OS on my computer.............
I think a small portion of the HDD is reserved for multi-OS switching. But I am not an expert at this.
On my laptop 4.52 GB is reserved for recovery partition. It shows as separate (hiiden) drive. Check this out.
More Details please. Total Space,Free space,Used space.
Also are you saying that The total space 19 GB changed to 14 GB. Thats werido.
But if you find that disk space is not decreasing on deleting files then turn off System Restore. I freed 3 GB on three partitions by doing this. I never need this feature. Turn off only if you dont need it. Its useful for recovery.
I installed two OS on my computer. After that i installed only one that is vista. My free disk space is only 1.33GB.I have only installed a few programs. These are the programs i installed:
Alcohol120%
WinRAR
MS Office
Opera
Avast antivirus.........
Check if you have "Hibernation Mode" enabled. If so Disable that and delete the file.
Did you create new partitions while installing the second OS ?
by default system restore & recycle bin reserves ~10% of your hard drive space.also enabling hibernation will further consume hard drive space equal to the RAM your system has.
Hey Thanks now i am having 2.54 GB free space by disabling system restore.
Thank You:gunsmilie:![]()

i m too lazy to go back through this thread...........
assuming u use win XP, its not a good idea to disable sys restore. keep it enabled but clean old restore-backups regularly using windows disk cleanup utility from drive properties menu.
this is just my personal suggestion only.
Friends
its not because of any other operating system, even if u install two or three operating system the hard disk shud show the exact size of that very partition or drive.
if ur drive is shown in properties is more than ur drive data, then the remaining space has been taken by page file.
u can reset this and get ur space back, without harming ur system. page file is a file which works as a virtual registry space of ur system.
Procedure
1.Open system properties by right clicking ur my computer then properties or by opening system from ur control panel (Classic view)
2.at system properties click on advance tab
3.Under performence click settings
4.in performance options window click on advance tab
5.at the bottom under virtual memory click on change button
6. select no paging file and ok
7.apply and ok all the other open windows...
U R DONE..........now say thanks

Do it in easy way
From the menu Go to Folder option
Select View Tab
click Hide Protected Operating System Files
Then see the properties of that system file and delete it
Probably System Volume Information Takes ur space![]()
System Restore points take up a lot of space.Try deleting those.
*Try checking the swap file size
*try removing Restore points
*Try running disk clean up wizard
brother brother brother plz stop as thats_me also said in the previous post the problem was solved now.......
Mods plz close the topic after it was resolved..........
