how to raid hard drives

i can i raid my hard drives and is necessary to buy pci raid card

You have to first decide why you want to raid two hard drives

There are many type of raid levels like raid0 raid1 etc

raid0 uses the stripping technique for increasing the speed with which data is stored/retrieved

raid1 is generally used for taking simultaneous backup

*so first decide which level u want to use [refer wikipedia]

*yes u need a raid card

i want to use raid 0 for increasing speed...can you tell me how can i set up it?

and also my bios doesn't have raid option?

can i set up it?

Holy crap. Sounds dangerous. Why would any one want to risk data loss by using RAID 0. But its your data your decision.

Please note Intel will discontinue RAID support by the end of this year as claimed by few news articles.

why would they do that, i mean raid is a good feature na esp used in industries an all...
