    Question Wireless LAN

Guys, I've a problem in setting up wireless LAN at home...

I wanna connect my desktop wireless adapter with my wi-fi enabled notebook to enable file sharing & share internet... What should be the TCP/IP settings on both the adapters viz. IP address & subnet mask? What other settings I require to achieve my goals...

I tried to do it LAN(cable) way... but its not working...

maddy first of all you need to config your wireless router then install wireless adapter on your desktop and make the TCP/IP settings as option an ip adderss automatically and obtain dns address automatically.
after that you need to search wireless network on your desktop and it will let you connect. still if you face any issues then please shout and update your modem router details with wireless adapter details and OS which you are using.
If you are getting any error then please post thta too otherwise say what happens when you try to search your wireless network (means if you are able to detect your wirless network or not)

I'm using Tata Indicom connection... The modem doesn't have multi-user facility...
I make my desktop as server which is directly connected to modem through cable... I'm using CCProxy on the server to share my internet connection through LAN(cable)... In that mode..

I keep the IP address of the server's wireless adapter as 192.168.0.1 & subnet mask as 255.255.255.0... & IP address of client(my laptop) is 192.168.0.2.. subnet mask same as server...

I'm able to achieve internet connection & file sharing by doing that in LAN(cable mode)...

I wanted to know what will be the IP range & subnet mask in wi-fi environment... To configure in this wi-fi client-server set-up...

P.S.- When I search for network on both machines, they don't detect any...

    Thanks dude...

The post there explains about connecting two PCs on wired LAN... As I said earlier I've already done that... But I heard that the IP range in wi-fi client-server setup is different than 192.168.1.XX and probably subnet mask is also different than 255.255.255.0... Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong!

192.168.1.xx being in class c category, the subnet mask is indeed 255.255.255.0 !!
