dilip its better not to switch to vista as it may give you a number of problem and may be will not as fast as xp

better idea is to stay with xp only

IMO as smoothy said XP is better.

The oly difference in SP3 is that it updated hence more secure, so I suggest you install XP SP3.

Rather than install Vista , u can wait a lil more and go for windows &, which as of now, seeems to be a great one.

Dont go for vista , bcoz XP is faster , consumes less ram , & is more compatible to older programs also.

Vista has something which XP dosn't have. That is DirectX10 support.

People who are into gaming and 3d graphics (like me) and who rely on DX10 than there is no other option than vista. Xp only supports DX9 or older.

Sure XP is fater and more responsive, but Vista has many things which XP can never have.

There is no point of choice between XP sp2 and sp3, because sp3 is completely same as sp2 but some minor addons and patches. Sp3 would obviously be better the sp2.
about vista i heard has many bugs and not very stable too.
    My choice: Microsoft Xp SP3

    Default XP or Vista

I have Vista in my Laptop and XP in the PC.
It is better to use XP as Vista is lousy with lots of safety controls. You don't feel free using Vista.

I tried with Vista in the PC too but later again I switched it back to XP.

There is not much difference between SP2 and SP3.

Wait for Windows7. It is going to be a hit. I tried beta and it is fine and better than XP and Vista.

as i do patch upates in my environment of vista and xp, I find very less patches for vista compared to xp. It means that Vista is secured than XP. Even i find out an article that

"Vista had an overwhelming edge over XP, with a mere 14 security updates compared to 41 for XP with Service Pack 2 during the same period."

    read this article...

My friends who have tested Windows 7 (RC) say its almost as good as XP ... it also seems to have an xp compatibility mode .... with which you can run softwares made for XP .... sounds good ..... will test it when the final release is made

XP SP3 is obviously the best choice as its stable of the two Xp-SP2 and Vista

Vista is eye candy and comes with directX 10.

Let me tell you directx10 has been found to run on XP Sp3 google it to know more ms is not offering dx10 for xp but u can always use it. Plus VISTA is a resource hog
as for ur config XP SP3 is the one for u.

Vista is like an extra thick condom - safer but slightly less fun...aha!

And even viruses have compatibility issues with Vista

here i am.. buddies... who is telling vista is sad??? lolz....

well let me tell you ppl one thing.. i am a vista fan.. really its nice.. damm decent os.. just the thing .. i will not recomend it for pcs who have less than 1g ram.. or for 1gb or highter...it works pretty good...

the main problem y ppl fine annoying is ... blinking security and administration windows.. because of UAC turned on as default.. its of no use practiaclly.. u can switch it off... and done.. than its not quiet annoying...

more i would like to say.. i have been using vista since almost 1.5 years.. the day i had got my pc .. i installed vista.. and till now.. many times i changed all os.. like xp, black xp. xp sp2 , sp3 and ice xp and lastly even vista gamers edition (ati).. i know among all above official is only xp sp2 n 3.. others are modifications.. but still its like i formatted n now again happily running vista..

another thing.. y ppl always tell it gets slow.. but just a few utilities can make vista work fine. i never faced problem regarding slow speed or hang ups or something..:28:

I'm with you bro ! Vista is awsome but for its system requirements, but thats hardly a issue nowadays.

The real problem is that people infact like it, but they are jealous that their 4 yr old compie does play nicely wid vista, so they cry foul, sayin vista is bad......
