| IMO as smoothy said XP is better. The oly difference in SP3 is that it updated hence more secure, so I suggest you install XP SP3. Rather than install Vista , u can wait a lil more and go for windows &, which as of now, seeems to be a great one. |

Rep Power: 1 | Dont go for vista , bcoz XP is faster , consumes less ram , & is more compatible to older programs also. |

| Vista has something which XP dosn't have. That is DirectX10 support. People who are into gaming and 3d graphics (like me) and who rely on DX10 than there is no other option than vista. Xp only supports DX9 or older. Sure XP is fater and more responsive, but Vista has many things which XP can never have. |

Rep Power: 2 | There is no point of choice between XP sp2 and sp3, because sp3 is completely same as sp2 but some minor addons and patches. Sp3 would obviously be better the sp2. about vista i heard has many bugs and not very stable too. My choice: Microsoft Xp SP3 |

Rep Power: 0 | I have Vista in my Laptop and XP in the PC. It is better to use XP as Vista is lousy with lots of safety controls. You don't feel free using Vista. I tried with Vista in the PC too but later again I switched it back to XP. There is not much difference between SP2 and SP3. Wait for Windows7. It is going to be a hit. I tried beta and it is fine and better than XP and Vista. |

Rep Power: 2 | as i do patch upates in my environment of vista and xp, I find very less patches for vista compared to xp. It means that Vista is secured than XP. Even i find out an article that "Vista had an overwhelming edge over XP, with a mere 14 security updates compared to 41 for XP with Service Pack 2 during the same period." read this article... 21 months later, Vista is still more secure than XP | Ed Bott’s Microsoft Report | ZDNet.com |
