Yes. And, there is vlite also for removing unwanted things from Vista installation. It's the brother of nlite.

    And the languages....

    Uff...........
It's better not to talk about them. We could actually free up about 1 GB or more by removing all other languages. :w00t:

to install this you have to format u r present OS,
please confirm : you mean format the Hard disk .

and ERASE totally the existing Genuine Version of Windows OS or home XP etc with all updates sp1 sp2 sp3 etc.

yes i guess so... its like actually installing a new OS as i have used nLite & vLite they are like creating a OS with the things you want in them... so it cant change what you have already installed. So you have to loose the old OS.

One thing what you can do is you can have multiple OS's by dual boot feature you can have both.

Default Deleting Original XP OS and using shortened version.

Most important/sensible advice given on this thread. REP+

    Para two:
I have removed all XPupdate files .
Uninstall files from Windows folder.. saved min 1 GB
( of course stored somewhere else , just in case!!!)
Also regularly delete System Restore files, keeping the latest only.

one thing abt this stripped or slimmed version. they most of the time not works. i mean not with the installation thing, but later as the new things keep coming in ur daily work, they most of the time dont support new feature. its always better to remove the language & unwanted drivers. but nothing more than this should not be removed. I once treid removing the Drivers & Language with n-lite only to realise that my setup getting hanged @ 80%. thing is like if ur geek, then try these things. else i am comfortable with tweaking OS after installation as per own flavour.

also n-lite is mostly used for the slipstreaming of many drivers. eg. i merged the SCHI SATA drivers for my Dell Lappy into the XP once.

I saw this thread just now ... the information is useful BUT

Dont you ppl think this is promoting piracy in a way. windows isnt an open source software which we can work on and edit. these tools are available, people create these modified versions, use them, they are popular - its all OK ... but are we actually supposed to discuss these here? isnt the topic violating the anti-piracy policy of the forum.

Plz dont take me otherwise here. maybe i interpreted the thread wrongly. just mentioned what came to my mind immediately after seeing this thread.

P.S - Ignore my post if what i said is irrelevant or doesnt makes sense. Sorry in that case.

^^piracy can be made if the edited copy is reselled, otherwise, I have strictily warned in my tutorial that "The copy created, will be only for personal use and no commercial use.

yes thats correct, piracy is only for reselling not for useing it for personal use... you can get a DVD (ori) and copy it if that is getting damaged & its not piracy .

In most cases these tools are used for bypassing windows serial key authentication ans slipstreaming other cracked softwares with the windows installation. now this is for sure not legal. if these are not the motives ... then i guess its ok to play with your own copy of windows and modifying the installation sizes and stuff...
