| Hi, I was having some problem with my C drive so i selected " I " to install a fresh copy of windows. Till date, i didn't install Nero. Today when i tried my I drive does not seems to enough space. so i tried to install Nero in C, but the problem is that i extracts files to I before it is installed to C. And this makes me unable to install Nero. I tried, but found no option to change the extracting directory. My drive details Total size : 4.86 GB Available space : 202 MB I use Nero 7.5, there is a file called pagefile.sys (1.03 GB) in I, and is stated as system file and hidden. What does it do? Please tell me how to solve this problem. Thanks in advance |

| Can you pls be more clear about your problem ?? Is your nero installation folder zipped/compressed ?? If so what software are you trying to use to uncompress it ?? WINRAR ? WINZIP? 7ZIP? just burn the extracted files to a disc and use it to install Last edited by ShAdOwCoN; 04-13-09 at 02:40 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Rep Power: 10 | Not promising this won't have unwanted side effects...it might be better to just designate your install locations manually. But here it goes... Go to Run. Type: regedit Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion On the right side, find the string called ProgramFilesDir and modify it to the desired path... Perform install of Nero! P.S.- Take backup of your registry before modifying it! |

"pagefile.sys" is used as the virtual memory. If you have plenty of ram(in xp 512mb or more) you can turn off or reduce the amount * click start * right click my computer * click properties * click advanced (tab) * under performance click settings * click advanced (tab) under virtual memory click change here you can change the space available for each drive by choosing the custom button then entering the amount you want or if you have lot of ram (in xp 512mb or more) choose the no paging file either way make sure to click the “set” button when you’re done. Restart your system. your pagefile.sys (1.03 GB) will be deleted | |

| pagefile.sys is not a problem file its just a virtual ram thats all you disable that and install nero then after installing it on some other drive and clearing the temp files you can enable the pagefile if you dont have sufficient ram. If you are using hybernation then there will be another file which is of the same size as your ram you can disable that also. Pagefile.sys 1) Right click My computer, properties 2) goto advanced, in advanced click settings of performances 3) Again in that goto advanced tab 4) At the bottom you can see virtual memory, click change 5) now click on your OS drive and click "No paging File" then click "set" exit all if needed restart your system & that file will be gone after installing nero repeat the same steps and enable this time. hiberfil.sys This file is used to store all the information on your ram so it will be having the same size as your ram ex: if you have 512 ram then this file size will be 512 MB removing it. 1) On desktop right click, properties 2) goto screensaver tab, at the bottom click "POWER" button 3) Now goto Hibernate Tab, remove the check mark at "Enable Hibernation" 4) Apply,Ok & exit all 5) now you can goto OS drive & manually delete the hiberfil.sys. Restart If necessary you can enable it later if you want hibernation facility Post reply if your problem is resolved or haveing more problems |
