Thread: Does IE8 detect non genuine XP?

hi ,

I want to use IE 8. At present I use IE 6. This I want to use to reset internet setting which is not available in IE 6 ( My system is infected ).


Can I use it without fear. I have too much Windows re installation under my cap. Please let me know if you are using it.

u can install IE 8 on non-genuine XP, its IE 7 which u cant install on non-genuine XP. IE 8 is quite light (not as IE 6, but its light, & its quite faster then its previous versions

I think the confusion is there is an option while IE 8 installation to enable automatic updates may be we keep them on. I am not an expert just tried to install it.

just forget it install

I tried it long time back and do you mean i need to uninstall my genuine version of windows and then need to try installing this IE8 on pirate version of windows, is it what you mean.

When i tried to install it about 2 months ago it asked me for validation before installation

IE 8 doesnt comes up with auto updates, u have to go to MS site & install it

well i rate chrome over ff in terms of speed, ff is much better in terms of no of addons

well u can give a try to IE 8, if u u fanatic about IEs , if not then go for any other browser

I already have Chrome, FF and Flock. I wanted to use IE 8 to the reset internet settings. My internet settings is filled with a lot of untrustworthy sites by a virus called Kooly Noody. IE 6 doesn't support this function. That is why I thought of IE 8.

IE8 won't detect pirated Win XP. Just install !

i use first for 95% of browsing.
Opera only in special cases
& chrome for my gmail....its really fast for gmail

BTW, what exactly u mean by internet settings. is it the TCP/IP settings? or those are the internet settings which can be accessed from IE?

It is tool > Internet option > Advanced > Reset Internet settings

This is not available in IE 6. So I had to try IE 8.

I show no preference to browsers. I use Firefox at home and IE7 in office. Most of the Sharepoint services do not work well with other browsers (other than IE, of course).

yes farce it is indeed and thats why we don't encourage anyone to use pirate softwares, if you want to use free OS then its better to use Linux Opensource OS which is already free

I wish people focus more on discouraging bribing than stealing intellectual properties (even that is not right). Most intellectual properties belong to US. But when we bribe or offer it, we are ruining our country. So is the case with furnishing fake medical bills & documents in IT return. As the money is utilized for the development of the nation .
