Thread: checkdisk problem

hello guys......
every time i boot up my pc....it runs a checkdisk on d drive and saying something about the "inconsistency in NTFS volume"....i don;t know why??
i always shut down computer properly....and this checkdisk never happened earlier....so why it's happening???/
can you suggest something???and how can i cure this???can it cause any harm to my comp??
is there anything wrong in my drive(segate sata 160 gb)

Click on the Start menu and open the run dialog.
1. Type "cmd" and return (without quotes)
2. Next type "fsutil dirty query <letter of drive that chkdsk keeps checking>" (In your case, D
3. If the returned message indicates that the volume is dirty, go to step 5
4. Next type "chkdsk <drive letter> /f /x"
If you get this below answer YES.
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next time the system restarts? <Y/N>
5. After that finishes, repeat step 2.
6. If the volume is no longer dirty, reboot and chkdsk should not reappear.

Ensure your system is not affected with a virus.

can you say why this is happening???
i am worried...could it harm damage to my comp??
i went to the d drive-properties-check errors-automatically fix file system errors-and it prompted to restart my pc.....
again check disk takes place.....but problem stilll remains.....
i need help.......

but how can i know if i my system is affected by virus or not??i am using avira and it's doing a good job...i haven't found any virus after scanning..is that all i need to ensure that my system is safe......
