Since you are from arts background... I wouldn't advice you to choose IT as a career... But you can always go for Civil services, Banking or Management!

Big deal is that rather than switching your field if you concentrate on your field you need less time to achieve acme.. That was honest suggestion from itsmemad but i guess you took it another way..

    P.S
We're not saying that you cannot excel in IT field..Being in IT field i won't consider any other field because it'll take time, and i might and will do something good in my field only..

    P.S
Last decision is your's, we're here to help only..Don't get mad...Peace

We are not giving pessimistic advices or demoralizing you. We just told you the reality. Rest is for you to decide. If you have the passion and determination - you can achieve success in any field.

    ^^ i said the probverb...just that...

Gandhi ji was thrown from train and than he came to know about independence(otherwise maybe he got reserved with his primal english styles) so thats like something strikes to you...and than you do hardwork..
a simple man in not so difficult situation wont take such hardwork over his head and in such market of today, either he is bade baap ka bada beta/beti...
Site from home gaya bhad mein... AIrtel se bolo FUP band kare.. BSNl se bolo 3G signal do!!!!>: (

For all they care you can be an ace programmer - but without a relevant degree u stand no chance

If you dont have an Engineering degree or a 3 year degree (in IT field) you stand no chance of even being called for an interview

they dont give a fig or a fin for course certificates even from NIIT

Actually the problem is recognition of Indian degrees internationally is poor .... so IT companies most of which are multi-national dont recruit Indian Grads (Freshers) unless they are from univs like IITs

not having a foundation isnt the main concern if he opts for a Master's Degree. I have seen people from different streams(Grad) going for MCA. Some of them never used a Computer before that... but are good programmers now(not all).

I have just completed MCA(after BCA). Most my classmates were from non-computer streams(B.sc, B.com) when they joined MCA.

But, none of them were from Arts. Most(probably all) universities in India requires Mathematics as a subject in graduation as one of the eligibility criteria for admission in MCA. So, in this case, arts students might not have a chance.

I am not sure about the eligibility criteria in case of MCM (Master of Computer Management). This is not a popular or well-known course.

    Not in IT field.

    @josh

My opinion is still the same. I wont recommend you to go for a full time career in this field. I am not demoralizing you. But, without a proper degree you wont get job offers from major companies. And just because of of your Grad in Arts Stream may not allow to to get admission in a Reputed Institute for Post Grad inthis field.

Cheap Labor is what India and China provides to the IT industry. Harsh Reality! And this is the reason of High demand of Indians and Chinese in major IT companies.

No ..... Just check indian Engineering college ranking

IIT is the only university to break into the top 100 ....and in top 500 there are only BITS , Anna university and a few (maybe 3)more
