Once i had to travel to Singapore .... i was tasked with heading a project and one of my team member was a British national ......

    He told me
"Son, do you know how long i have been working as a _______ ? "

because his work experience (no of years) was twice my age ..... i am not saying he was inferior or anything just that .... Indians can excel when given a chance

    Yes. Well Said.

I remember a Dialogue from a hindi movie "Hello" (based on the novel "one night at call centre") -> "An average American is 100 times dumb than an average Indian"

well, it sort of depends, some areas the Indian
BE syllabus is pretty strong. Especially Math,
We did some heavy duty math for the first
five semesters in my BE CS. We also did a
lot of programming. In BS the students have the
choice of taking different courses. In BE the
courses are pretty fixed 90% of the time.
In BS you can go and take literature, arts
even physical eductation towards BS Engg degree.

Oh well, I am rambling now.

hmm, my memory is slipping, what about mathematical logic?

You are right about BE. but wasn't it fun learning
about lathes and foundry etc? ;-)

BS you can specialize if you want to
but most do the specialization in MS or PhD
(my information is some years old when I was
a TA for BS CS undergrads).

The BS practical projects are also much more
involved and bigger that our single BE final
year project ;-) and they do these projects
    2 or 3 per semester.

Cplus plus or Cminus minus or C multiply ... it just doesnt make any difference.. Do what you want to do and create a space for yourself is what I believe is the best way to go farward.

Dont just join some course thinking you will land up a good job due to that... it just doesnt work like that.

Its an individual that makes a difference... if you are only good for being a lower division cleark then so be it... if you have it in you, you will rise to the hieghts that people around you wouldnt have ever imagined.

Take it easy and do what you actually want to do... I can bet you any money that you dont even know what C++ is... why take a chance and find out 2 years down the line that its not your thing?

By the way its all boring stuff unless you have that sort of mindset.

C++ is not everyone's cup of tea. I consider myself a good programmer (no false modesty) but I get totally lost in C.

That said, there is a market for C++ (as well as assembly) if you wish to go into system software.

You are not interpreting us correctly and not even trying to do so.

Ok. Lets say you are an expert Web-Designer. What do you wish to do? Job? you wont get a good one unless you have a full time degree. Short courses of 3-4 months have no value. I already mentioned that you most probably are not eligible for doing full-time masters course in IT field.

you can be a successful web master and be self employed. But, without recognition - you wont get a good job.
