I always have somewhere around 20 plugins enabled & at least 8 tabs open.

The problem is now resolved after upgrading to 3.5.1. Thanks everyone.

(There are reasons why I use IE7 and FF.)

^ I agree. IE8 is so much faster than IE7 and better too. I generally don't use IE except when doing net banking.

Most Indian banks haven't designed the sites which are compatible with FF.

That is true. That is why I use IE as well as FF. For my personal use I use FF. For official use I use IE7.

My laptop belongs to my company and I am not allowed to upgrade to IE8 (even though I have admin rights) - against company policy. In fact, I cannot apply any XP updates also except those that are published and available thru advertised programs.

wow, any idea why it is so unless for lack of knowledge or probably becoz the copy of is Illegal.

Now I find that even branded PC's are having pirated OS's. infact they give that choice to customer. 3.5K + for XP pro.

When i wanted to have vista on a new PC, which i bought in second half of 2007, they openly stated that you will get only a pirated copy.

worse than that, I managed to get a pirated copy and the engineer who came to assemble the system copied the DVD from me. I was like :w00t: , what the fish....

I've bought 3 systems so far... 2 assembled PC's and 1 Laptop... all of them had pirated Windows on them... It's not surprising... As it will cost more if you want an original OS... Lucky we were born in India...

The company's internal networks and support team does not want you to update windows or components because not all internal web applications are compliant. Also, they like to have some control I guess.

ya buddy, its expected in assembled systems sold by local dealers. but even so called reputed co's like HCL doing is bit unexpected.I didn't know they give user the choice. Usually its like free dos/ubuntu if you want lower cost right ?

Wow , even on lappy too ? :w00t:

If you are using windows xp, do the following:

    1. Right click the firefox icon you use to open firefox browser.

    2. select "properties"

    3. In the Target box give the following line:

    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" /Prefetch:1

    4. click Ok

Now it will be ok to start better than before.

not a problem, my FF starts in 4-5 sec as it is, so maybe not much room for improvement.
