Thread: IP Address conflict

My sys displays "IP address conflict" and does not connect. I use win 2000 pro with BSNL BB 256 kbps. Modem: ADSL Type-IV WA3002G4. Local Network connection and status bar shows connected. But not the internet. I tried using following IP addresses; 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.2.1 while the Subnet mask auto detect shows 255.255.255.0.
Default Gateway Nil
Preferred DNS server:192.168.1.1
Alternate DNS server: Nil

with few combination it connects, but not loads the website properly also takes time. Please help. I downloaded konst pinger and installed it also. But do not know how to ping.

are you using the set up at home or at office?
how many systems do u have?

use modem in PPPoE mode.
If you have multiple systems give IP address as 192.168.1.2, 198.168.1.3 etc. (192.168.1.1 is reserved for the modem)

select auto detect for DNS or give OpenDNS adress.(208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220)

Are you connecting in a single PC setup or thru a LAN? When you are getting this? While booting or trying to connect to the net?
