Control Panel/Printers and other Hardware/ Keyboard.
1.Check time delay and upgrade drivers.
2.Have you updated your OS to sp3 if using XP Home or Pro ?
    3.Mention Keyboard details.
4.Is it connected to the USB port of desktop/laptop computer
    5. Your mouse operation Ok at this time ?

please do me a favour, go to this place inside your compy and check in keyboard there for me..
there maybe some reasons for this,
device driver fails(uninstall and restart your compy)
    usb jack malfunctioning
some malware/virus in your compy(system check)

    Lightbulb Troubleshoot the Keyboard

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot a Keyboard not working properly.

    NOTES:

    * The steps below are provided to isolate the issue. Some steps may not be required. After each troubleshooting step is performed, test to see if the issue is resolved.
    * Ensure that Computer is properly connected to the Keyboard.
    * If another Keyboard is available, substitute that Keyboard for the one connected to the Computer and test to confirm whether the first Keyboard is faulty.

    1. Ensure the number lock feature of the Keyboard is not activated.

    2. Remove Keyboard driver from the Device Manager and reinstall the keyboard driver by restarting the Computer.

    3. Remove all the additional keyboard settings in Accessibility Options (How to remove all the accessibility options for the keyboard).

    4. Reset the BIOS defaults (press F2 at startup to enter BIOS).

    5. Perform a System Restore (How to restore the computer to an earlier time using the System Restore feature.) to an earlier date.

    6. If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required.

    Operating System: Windows XP
