I think there's an option to degrade your genuine vista to genuine XP. for this, you have to contact nearest microsoft office. they will give new serial key for windows XP. So you've to remove vista from your system and can use XP.

Instead of going back to Windows XP, I suggest that you upgrade the Notebook to Windows 7. I've an Acer too. Acer has released Windows 7 Drivers for all the models which were shipped with Windows Vista Operating System.

If your Notebook was bought after 26th June, 2009, you may claim free Windows 7 Upgrade Kit from Acer.

is Windows 7 best? Yet, they released a Windows XP mode for Win7! why? I've a licenced win7 ultimate in my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L500 with 3GB DDR2, C2D 2.20GHz, 320GB HDD etc.). But even though i prefer XP as it's more reliable, user friendly and stable. I can't install my modem on win 7. Am using BSNL WLL high speed internet plan using CT800P wireless phone (by USB-USB). But it's driver not working in windows 7. and finally, is there anything advanced in win7 than XP except cosmetic changes and a little more small functions? I think performance and stability is more in Win XP and also economic.

Well, I'm testing Windows 7 since last few months.... So far no issues with any Drivers in the two Acer Notebooks I've installed it... It even detected and installed the Drivers for a USB Modem. Also, Windows XP Mode is there for the smooth transition of Windows XP users to Windows 7.. Those Software which do not run in Windows 7 normal mode, may run in the XP Mode.. Windows 7 may not be best option yet... However, Windows XP also took time to replace Windows 98 from the preferable options... As more and more Windows 7 based Software will release, users will change their preferences too..

Try installing the driver using the Troubleshoot Compatibility Option present in windows 7, hope it works.

Dude.... One important advice......... Some of the new laptops doesn't support xp fully....... You might get drivers for xp, still problems can occur........
The safe option would be to upgrade to Windows 7..........

I've bsnl wll device (it's a wireless phone like tarang) in which am using internet. the problem that am facing that it's coming with a driver CD (not an installation software, only driver files.. I mean written codes ). when the device is plugged via USB, it asks for the driver and we've to show the path for driver. it's success in XP but not in Win7. installation of modem fails in win7 as it's not supporting. (CD contains drivers for XP, 2000 and vista only..surprising: vista driver is not supporting for win7! in this case)!! so I've to use net in my old PC (win XP) with the lower performance. anyway I've just contacted bsnl exchange. they told that they may change new model handset if available.

I have a suggestion for u.Upgrade ur Vista to Windows 7 and Install Pirated XP.
Dual boot them.so u can use wither of them when u like.

Windows 7 is just great. And XP u know.

Vista has bugs like slow speed.

Also if u have Dell Laptop then they r offering free Upgrades to Windows 7.
    and some more brands too.

XP and W7 will be a great deal.

i would not recommend a pirated operating system, that would bar you from any important software updates, these days its even more important because of all the malware and spyware trying to hack your system with every loop hole they can find. if your laptop is win 7 ready then u should upgrade and not downgrade.. i have used both xp and vista.. xp was much faster for me but also showed a lot of blue scree, vista gave hardly any bluescreen but the system was so slow that it was a killer.. look me 2-3 min to boot up and almost the same time to shut down the system.
