Thread: Windows 8 maybe out by 2011

An ex-employee of Microsoft has apparently released reports that shows that Microsoft has planned to release the successor of Windows 7 by July 2011.

The document called the "Estimated Product Support Life Cycles" was revealed on a Microsoft blog shows product support schedules and product launch dates for many of Microsoft's major software products.


According to that data, Microsoft aims to launch Windows 8 by July of 2011, which is less than 2 years after Windows 7 hit the market. The authenticity of the document could not be verified but all the dates of already launched products seem to be accurate. Microsoft did not comment on this story.

Yes, I heard that it's gonna be released in 2012... However, since there is no confirmation from Microsoft, it can be a rumour... It all depends on the success of Windows 7... If it continues to sell even after 2 years, I don't think Microsoft will release another OS too soon... However, Microsoft has pledged to release a new OS every 3 years..

I just hate new OSes....they make us buy new software every time....maybe even new hardware if this has DX12....Bah !

In that case, we may get a beta on end of this year.

Try signing up with them to become a tester....i am still on windows 7 RC and you are thinking of W8 BETA lol.

Its not going to be this soooon.

Also, the name of the next Windows is probably not Windows 8... It's the name given to the next OS by rumour-mongers...

though one thing is confirmed that W7 is the last 32-bit OS from MS. After this all the OS will come out in 64 -bit version. & theres a uncofirmed report which says MS planning to implement 128-bit version of OS with next windows release (so called windows 8) or by next to that. (windows 9 ???? )

There is no processor out there supporting 128 bit.

when 64-bit came out there were no procc for it too..

I dont think they will lauch it so soon..
because in that case the beta version they will launch somewhere at the end of the year.
