Default Emails: where do you store them ?

emails: Where do you store them ?

    1.
Most of us use free email services like Hotmail /Yahoo Mail/Rediff sify Google etc.
Also keep a record of addresses/contacts and
keep important incoming/outgoing messages in different folders. Also because there is no storage restriction we upload some back up files/programs etc.

    2.
Now if you don't activate the acct say at least once in a month or 90 days , your account is automatically deleted and all your mail data photos/albums are lost.! ( No warning or Intimation !)

    3. Better idea will be to send /receive email through
your own email client such as Outlook/OE/ etc, and use the email Ids of Hotmail Gmail Airtel bsnl etc , so that you can store all messages sent and received . ( If POP3 redirection is possible )

    4. Another idea is to send BCC ( blind copy) of all messages sent and forward Inbox mails to current email ID ( say abcd @dataone.in abcd @ bsnl.in etc)

    5. you need not open browser/visit the website/log in and see all advts flash or Home page, spam etc before you can actually retrieve your mail !

6.Last . but not least, any message you type ONLINE, if sent in an angry frame of mind , cannot be withdrawn. Whereas in your email client , you type whatever you want, go for a walk ,watch TV, relax ,then reconsider REEDIT then send the .reply.

    @LukeSkywalker
    Includes forum posts also !
I type first in notepad, ( detailed posts ) then copy/paste.
Sometimes, post is not uploaded, goes to moderation etc if you type directly.
    Then I try later.

Gmail and yahoo.co.in IDs allow full POP3 (download) and SMTP (upload) access through mail-clients like thunderbird and OE.

    settings for yahoo.co.in
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): in.pop.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): in.smtp.mail.yahoo.com Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
    Account Name/Username: <username>@yahoo.co.in
    Email address: <username>@yahoo.co.in
    Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

please note that you need to activate POP3 access first by logging into your mail account online and going to options>POP3 and Forwarding
