Lightbulb Start windows 10 times faster.!!!

This is a easy and great tip for speeding up the booting of your system 10 times faster. This is helpful for old pc's with slow performance. I tried this in my old "Road runner", is a windows XP system (Road runner is only the computer name but it's actually a road roller ). It's Celeron 1.3Ghz and 192MB Ram dedicated for my young brother for playing small games and movies. . So there's two steps called A and B..

Just try, it's easy as ABCD..

    STEP-A

    1) open the system properties (Controll panel--> system or Right click on the My computer icon and selcet ''Properties'').

    2) Select Device Manager tab

    3)Select IDE/ATAPI controllers

    4) From the Sub lists, you can see primary IDE channel and Secondary IDE channel. (This may vary in the number according to your hard disk numbers and the IDE ports they are connected etc.).
Just follow as in the figures below:

    STEP-B

    1) Open the Notepad

    2) Type the below code in it:

    echo
    del c:\windows\prefetch\*.* /q

    3) Save the code with the extension .bat (eg: something like "Faster.bat" including the quotes else it'll save as the .txt format), anywhere in the system. (eg: C:\Faster.bat)

    4) then click Run from the start menu and type gpedit.msc and hit Enter. This will open the Group policy editor.

    5) In the window, select Computer configuration --> Windows settings --> select Scripts (Startup/Shutdown).

    6) from the right side, double click on the Shutdown.

7)In the properties dialogue, click Add --> Browse, then select the saved Faster.bat file and hit Open.

    8) Then click Ok --> Apply --> then Ok. Close any windows.

That's all.. Now you just try to restart your system.. wooow.. the booting will be much, much and so much more faster than before..

I think even faster performance pc's also showing 5 or many more times the booting animation (scrolling of some bricks under the win XP logo when booting) after few software installations.! So try this, Definitely it'll be '1' or 1 and half times!! Sure..

IMHO , don't try and no magic will happen. win7 is already super fast.
and even if you apply this i DONT think the speed will be even noticeable and definitely not 10X for sure.

Nice post... I don't know about the rest but cleaning the prefetch is usually not recommended. Prefetch is the place where windows stores tiny bits of program information for easy loading the next time.

Many of us including me rate ccleaner high. Even CCleaner doesn't delete the prefetch data(see under CCleaner >> Windows >> Advanced).

Cleaning the Prefetch will only slow the system down. There is a common myth that the prefetch is similar to browser temporary files. But it isn't.

The prefetch will clean itself. It holds a maximum of some 128 entries or so. After that the prefetch will be automatically emptied.

Here is a blog entry on msdn by Ryan Myers from the Windows Client Performance Team.
Misinformation and the The Prefetch Flag - Funny, It Worked Last Time - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Also Tuneup Utilities conducted tests on this prefetch myth and found that cleaning the prefetch actually slows the system down.

    Another opinion :
Prefetch is a new and very useful technique in Windows XP. However, after using XP some time, the prefetch folder can get full of rarely used or obsolete links which can slow down your computer noticeably. My suggestion is: open C(system drive):/windows/prefetch, delete all files (or at least those more than 3 weeks old), reboot. I recommended that you do this every month.

Editor Note: Deleting prefetch files too often (Every reboot) can decrease system performance!

Bottom line: You will not improve Windows performance by cleaning out the Prefetch folder. You will, in fact, degrade Windows performance by cleaning out the Prefetch folder. I’ve done performance testing that establishes this definitively. In all the many sites that offer this bogus tip, I have yet to see a single piece of actual performance testing.
