What is transliteration :

ans: Transliteration in simple terms is changing the script of a "sentence or paragraph that is from one language into a targeted another language" , for better reading.

For example, if one cannot read Russian Cyrillic characters he may use some online software to do the help.

Just back 30 minutes, I was trying to post an email to a local Hindi daily about certain problems facing our city. Though the Editor mentioned in the editorial that one may write letters through email by using normal Latin alphabets with transliteration done for hindi words in subjection.

I got an idea, that why shouldn't i use Hindi "Devanagari" script for the same. I knew the word transliteration already(cause of Already had problems reading Russian script ;p ) so it was very easy to sort it out from Google.



Google Transliteration is a kind of small software that loads onto your windows and helps you change your writing language from one language to another using the same English keyboard that you have.
So for ex. if you have to type in Hindi, you will just type how it sounds like and write that sound in terms of Latin alphabets. Like if you have to write the word book in Hindi, you will guess and write the actual sound " KITAAB"..
Since Google transliteration is based on phonetic system, one may not not write shortcuts or it may sound very foolish and mean something else in the language.


Google Transliteration browser and windows integration software can be downloaded from Download Google Transliteration Input Method (IME)

Not just Hindi, there are 13 more Indian languages currently supported by it. And certainly Google made it very simple, basic and quick to understand. And its very easy too for use.

It is a boon for those who wanted to write in Hindi on web.
Sad that India stands at one of the top positions in the Internet web. India publishes millions of websites and blogs every day. So why shouldn't we conserve our languages on the internet by the use of such easy softwares.

There are millions of Indians who want website in their own languages.
