    Default Sun VirtualBox

    Hi!

We all know about Windows XP mode in Windows 7.But ever wondered if it would be in Vista or XP or even Windows Vista mode in Windows 7 or Windows 7 mode in Vista or XP or even Windows 2000??!!yes u can install any OS on any OS.The OS first installed would act as host for the OS u installing. Its very cool na!You can do this with Sun VirtualBox.like you have Windows XP and want the taste of Windows 7.of course u can Dual-boot but may be u don't want!you can set up OS in OS easily.

    You need:

    • OS installed(host)
    • Sun VirtualBox(free program)
    • You desired OS installation disk or ISO
    • Time
    __________________________________________________ _______________
    Steps-

    1) Download and install Sun VirtualBox.we all know how to install a software so i am not going through.Select your host OS and Download Sun VirtualBox here.

    2) Once installed register it.after that we start. The Sun VirtualBox Appears.Click "New".

    3) a dialog box appears.Click "Next".

    4) Name You OS like i named it Microsoft Windows XP as i am installing XP.also select OS type.If u install Linux then select it from drop-down list.then select the version(Fig. 1).after that click next.

    Fig.1

    5) Here's the part to give ur OS RAM.Select the amount of RAM u want to provide to ur OS.here i am installing XP so i made it 512MB(Fig.2).1GB recommended for Vista/7.Click "Next" when done.

    Fig.2

    6) Now comes to create virtual hard disk for our OS.Select "Create New Hard Disk".Then when comes next dialog click "Next".On the next dialog put dot in "Dynamically Expanding Storage"(Fig. 3).In the next dialog select the amount of space of the virtual hard disk. For XP i used the default one(Fig.4).In the next dialog click "Finish" to create the Virtual Hard Disk hard disk.

    Fig.3

    Fig.4

    7) Now click "Finish" to create your Virtual Machine/

    8) Now we need the installation disk or ISO of the OS u want to use as Virtual. So in the right pane of VirtualBox in "Details" tab find "CD/DVD-ROM" and click it(Fig.5).now if u want to use ur installion disk then put dot in "Host CD/DVD Drive" but if u want to use ISO then put dot in "ISO" and browse and select your ISO.then click OK.(Fig. 6)

    Fig.5

    Fig.6

    9) Now select the Virtual Machine in left-pane and click the "Start" above.Whoa!!a virtual machine starts.
(Also u can integrate ur mouse pointer by pressing Right CTRL on keyboard)

    10) Now install the OS as usual(Fig. 7):

    Fig.7

    11) Here's a shot of Virtual installed XP and Windows 7 as host.(Fig. 8)

    Fig.8

    12) Now if u want a better experience with VirtualBox then install Guest Additions. From this u can go Full Screen and automatically integrate mouse in Virtual Machine. To install Guest additions Go to Devices>Guest Additions.
