If you are experiencing better gaming in xp then keep it and remove windows 7.
you can install windowsblinds for better theme. Go read gaggan's post on windowsblinds.

actually i like windows 7. i love the UI. thats why i am using it. but some games do not work in 7 even in compatibility mode. for example, when i run nfs most wanted, it just crashes. it says APPCRASH. that is my problem. that is why i use two OSes. otherwise why the heck would i use two OSes. .
so switching OSes is not possible eh?? ok. so what is this " virtual box"? what are its system requirements???

i dont think it is the game that has the problem. maybe i dont have enough graphics. i dont have a graphics card. only the normal video card which is 256 mb. so maybe the graphics are not enough. thats why the game is not launchingin windows 7 since it requires high hardware.
anyway thanks for your help everyone.

bro i m also game lover..remember one thing windows 7 is lighter than xp so check latest game in both windows xp and 7,then you will only get to know..windows 7 is best os to play games but dont forget to downlaod latest graphic drivers..
and coming to your question if you hardly want to use both os simultaneously then use xp mode which comes in windows 7..in this you can use xp as vitual machine ..

    This might help

    Download

VMware Player is the easiest way to run multiple operating systems at the same time on your PC. With its user-friendly interface, VMware Player makes it effortless for anyone to try out Windows 7, Chrome OS or the latest Linux releases, or create isolated virtual machines to safely test new software and surf the Web. VMware Player can also be used to run a virtual copy of an old PC so that you can recycle the old machines you have under your desk or stored in the closet.
It allows you to run two operating system at the same time. You can switch between operating systems without restarting.

    Drawback :

    Consume more RAM
