Ours is a country full of poor people.Only 7 to 8 percent population of India owns pc.They are not able to buy original softwares hence they use pirated softwares.Even Miccrosoft too knows this.

Piracy in India is coming down and that means lesser people think it is sweet to get a pirated OS... Your species will go extint after a few years..

Using pirated OS is like shop lifting.. Dont you think it took a lot of people to develop it? Dont you think those people deserve to get paid for their hard work?

If you dont like to pay for an OS get linux... and spend the rest of your life searching for drivers.

No way.... Maybe 7-8% people in India uses only original software...... That may be true.....

It may not be possible for everyone to purchase Adobe Master Collection or Visual Studio, but I would say, anyone who can purchase a computer must also be able to purchase an OS.....

Now that the price has come down, it will become more affordable.....

I Seriously dont understand why people prefer PIRATED OS although it has lots of back drops. I get to see that people want everything free of cost ... as the admin told the developers of the software are affected.....

I don't see any price reduction. The prices Microsoft Store shows have been cut is just imaginary. Earlier also, the prices were same. My dad had bought the home premium edition for Rs. 5499 last month, from the same website. And I also had got my Ultimate edition from a retail shop for 11k.

While it may be true that there are a lot of poor people in India, people who own PCs are not one of them.

People use pirated software because it is so easy to do so and they can get away with it. People do not pirate h/w parts because it is not possible to do so.

Truly the developers deserve the credit.... 90% of more of us use Windows OS and curse Microsoft. These OS's were not developed overnight.

If M$ made the home version for Rs2000, they would make more profit.

also, these are retail prices, OEMs should be lesser

They usually offer Installation CD to
student/s in colleges in U.S for a discounted price. say $10/=.
    I think I will wait for Windows 8 ( expected 2012),
    if I buy a new laptop !
I cannot use Windows7 in Dell Inspiron 8000
The whole routine starts again. Upgrade/compatibility/ Drivers etc!

Reducing price : works for repeated usage like shampoos/soaps hairoil etc but not for OS!

In U.S you will get a Blood Glucose Monitor for
Free ( almost)but each test strip will cost $1
    A box of 50 strips for $50/=.!

    Hey man Windows 7 Rocks.

If you still use XP I don't know what to say!

Not that XP is bad...but it looks so old & dated!

Home Premium is like Rs.5400 on their site?

I wonder how much it costs locally in the shops? Should be less in the grey market area of Lamington? Or No? Online is best price?

    Hey man Windows 7 Rocks.
If you still use XP I don't know what to say!
Please read all posts from beginning.
This thread is not discussion about WINXP and WINDOWS 7 ( forgot VISTA ?)

    All persons cannot afford new models/new software/new laptops/new cars/New TV/new cellphone, etc
as and when they are marketed.
I may advise you to ditch Windows 7 with sp1 sp2 sp3 etc
    When I get somewhow , a new laptop in 2012 compatible for /with Windows 8 !
    No need now.

    Price comparison:
http://www.indiabroadband.net/window...tml#post283964 (Windows 7 Home Price reduced)

By the way Which version of MS office you use? Latest I think is MS office 10.
