    Question PC turns off...???

    Hi,

I use XP, while working a beep sound came from CPU and the system abruptly turned off, after 1/2 hrs later i restarted my PC, it worked fine....this happened 2 days back. But today the same thing happened, all of a sudden PC turned off giving a beep sound...???
Earlier i had no pblm with my PC (I dont have virus/nothing non-sense in my PC)...but why is this happening so....

    Help me out...

I had a similar problem once, but I can not confirm that it is the the same cause.

I used to get a bleeping sound too, and the PC used to switch off, I kind of avoided this for a while, until it totally crashed and found out it was a hard drive problem. Try deleting excess stuff from your hard drive, as I had the problem not so long ago and done the same, and problem went away!

Again this is a guess to what the problem maybe, as its similar to what happened to my comp!

low voltage causes many problems!!You may try putting a Stabilizer to get enough voltage for your pc!

Also check that u don't have any schedules to shut down computer!

As told by Imrock,Check if you have any schedules and ya Except that you may also have power supply problem or due to overheating after one beep the computer turns off!

Sometime earlier that problem was with me too!
If this is so give your computer some rest or Your Power Supply will be Damaged.

Try a different UPS and check. Have you installed hardware / software recently ? Any drivers ? If so, uninstall them and check.

    do a few things...

if you have a UPS, check whether the beep is from the UPS or the motherboard.

If its from the UPS, well, its time to get it serviced, something is wrong with it...

if its not the USP..hmm..really man, i cant think of any reason...does the system get very hot ? try using some software like speed fan to check the temperatures of the processor...how old is this system ?

Very Thankfull to all your suggetions......I'm going to try out u r suggestions 1 by 1

1.keep the PC in rest --- since i rigorously use my pc.
2.deleting excess stuff from harddisk --- Since i had enough stuff in my HDD.
3.power fluctuation --- theres been this problem in our area from past 1 week.
    4.s/w or h/w installation --- From past 1/2 months i hadn't installed any s/w or h/w.
    5. No blue screen/any error message is displayed ,Just PC switches off.

@rajan1311 -- sound is from CPU not from UPS...and my PC is 6 yrs old AMD Athlon Processor.

@imrock,you are right amd's heat up fast

Try a new UPS,if not take the cpu to some hardware expert and the get the problem solved as suppose if you buy a ups still the problem is there then you may regret that decision

So please be on a safe side

These are hardware problems not the O.S. problem.

Ya this is sure that genuine and non genuine o/s doesn't matters if there is a hardware error specially when your system automatically turns off without notifying you!

If the computer continously switches off automatically after 20~40 minutes interval without notifying the user, then it's surely a hardware issue!
The software such as o/s and other software's don't shutdown the computer automatically! Now the fact is verified!!

Ya you are right imrock it's not a O/s issue,
Yes maybe possible that he might have AC or not?
What's the use of putting AC near PC?
    For cooling purpose?Then it's a good optionlol
