has won the PC Advisor Awards 2010 - Best Free Software award, after being named as the best freebie to come through the PC Advisor Test Centre over the past 12 months.
Launched in 2009, Security Essentials is free and as effective at protecting a PC as any of the free antivirus programs that have been available for years. False positives are few and far between, thanks to strong malware detection and the ability to distinguish between a dodgy file and one that simply displays unexpected behaviour. Aside from slightly slower than average scanning speeds, Security Essentials is very much the new force to be reckoned with]
I am using for XP pro Sp3 and Windows7 professional. for almost a year. No other AV.
Updating was a "breeze"

I am using AVG Internet Security 2011 right now and have tried Microsoft Security Essentials too, it works good with all Microsoft operating systems but the worst part is installation of this security software. If you have ever used McAfee on your computer then first you must uninstall McAfee software from your computer using McAfee Removal tool and then should delete all registry entries of McAfee from Registry Editor, otherwise Security Essentials might give you trouble while installing or in updates.
Overall all Microsoft Security Essentials is a good security software with very user friendly options.
