    Try this:
    Check ethernet card settings. "configure" "Power MANAGEMENT"
    In network settings page.
    Uncheck first Box "Allow the computer ...........".

    Goto control panel ----------> Network & internet ------------> Network & sharing

    centre --------> Change adapter Settings ----------> double-click on tikona ------>

    Pop-up(tikona Status)

    Double-click properties--------> options-------->

    Idle time b4 hangup--------> click NEVER

    As you may not have access to the modem, and cannot change any setting
    this could be set as default by TIKONA.

    2. When connected check ipconfig /all
    What is the Lease time shown ?

    My OS: Windows 7 Professional. BSNL ISP Beetel 110BX

    Presume from Ipconfig /all .
