try format after booting from the xp/vista/windows 7 disc.i always use full format the first time after buying a hard disc because a full format analyses disc sectors & if it finds some corrupted sectors it remaps them & that is why full format takes much longer time compared to quick format.i only use it for the first time & after that i rely on S.M.A.R.T values for hard disc health info & backup.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
yeah i m already tried full format at first time,at 79% it says can't format a drive. So i tried partition the hard disk.
It should work fine without giving these trouble. Take a back up of your data before it shows any other problem. If nothing works, get it replaced.
There is no backup in the hard disk.It is a new one.I m tried to format the whole drive at first but at 79% it becomes struck. So i used a windows 7 dvd to partitions it.After partitioning it as 100,100,100,100,65gb.The first 3 colon format as normal format. I can't able to format last 100gb and 65gb. But i can able to quick format last two partitions.
Quick format works fine but i can't able to format as normal without using quick format.
in my previous post i meant using XP/windows 7 dvd to format after booting from it(like we do when installing windows).
i can able to format using xp/windows 7 dvd. But using the os cd all the drive format at quick. (So think that the os cd use quick format).
i need to know different between quick format and format.
using quick format the drive is formatted successfully
using without quick format it says that windows can't able to format the drive.
from my previous post:
xp cd has 2 format options:format & (quick format).if you can't full format the drive using xp cd my suggestion is ask for replacement as any healthy hard disc should not have any problems while doing full format.a full format analyses disc sectors & if it finds some corrupted sectors it remaps them & that is why full format takes much longer time compared to quick format.
call seagate toll free india no.(from their india site).explain your full format problem & tell them that you can't trust a drive which shows error during full format.if possible visit a seagate service center yourself & give drive to them saying that you can not full format the drive but quick format is working & you don't trust the drive's reliability.
