Check what kind of RAM is already there in the machine or even beter take the chip out and show it to the shopkeeper and ask them to give youa similar chip.

Physical memory as in storage? No it doesnt.

4gb ram is enough for normal usage.also graphics card ram onboard the card is dedicated only to graphics card & does not contribute towards system ram.

I would like to buy a DDR 2 RAM 1GB or 2GB i need to know the current market price.

2gb DDR2 transcend/kingston is ~1200 & 1gb is ~700 in nehru place,delhi.

Besides ddr1-2-3 you also need to check what speed they are and prices differ. You will find that ddr1 is costlier then ddr2 now and ddr3 is costlier then ddr2 and 1 and so on.
Also keep in mind that if your system is not built to hold 4gb ram and you just bring a 4gb chip and and plug it in then your system is going to hang and there will be no improvement in your system's performance. Leave it to the professionals or ask here and people like Rajan and others can help you out with it I am not that good!

Use CPU Z, it will show your RAM details. But as admin mentioned, check how much RAM is supported by your motherboard. You can either post the motherboard model no. here or ask in your motherboard manufacturer's forum.

How much for DDR 1 1GB / 2GBRAM ?

As it's outdated now, you can hardly find it in the market but i can tell you that from the source i have collected the info the current price is around Rs. 2200 for a 1 GB DDR1 & around Rs. 3000 for 2 GB DDR 1 if by any chance you get it.

DDR3 now is the cheapest.when first launched it was costlier than DDR2 but as it became mainstream it became cheaper while at the same time DDR2 became costlier as it became outdated.this is the case with all computer technologies.initially they are costlier but after some time when they become standard they get cheaper.

@meetdilip,DDR1 is ancient now.you can get an atom kit(cpu+mobo)for 3000,2gb DDR3 ram for 700 & using other parts from your older system you can build a decent new system for 3700 sufficient for browsing,downloading etc.i myself is using such system.only downside is latest atom kits have no PATA port only 2 SATA ports but you can buy a pci 2 SATA 1 PATA port(hard disks only) card for ~350 home delievered(again using one myself).

I have DDR2 1GB Samsung 555 RAM and in shop they had only 800mhz 2GB Transcend RAM. Can i use another company RAM(with different MHZ) to next slot of my motherboard.

motherboards also have a limit of how much MHz of ram they can support.usually a higher rated MHz ram will run at lower MHz if mobo does not support the higher MHz.still to be on safe side check with your mobo manual(usually also in a pdf file in driver cd).

Even if the motherboard supported RAM of higher speed, the new RAM will work at the lower speed of the two, i.e., 555 Mhz.

However, that should not be too much of a worry as for normal applications RAM speed is inconsequential - it is the HDD speed (which is much less) and motherboard bus speed that matters.

So just check whether motherboard will support the new RAM.

i have Samsung 1gb 533mhz ram i would like to buy transcend 1gb 800mhz ram. can i use place new one to next slot. is that any problem occurs with mhz varies.

There are two slots for RAM on the motherboard. 1gb DDR2 RAM costs you 1000 INR. You can add more RAM to make your PC more faster.
