Guys did you like Windows 8 Consumer Preview? Do you agree with the thinking of Microsoft that there should be a single unified operating system for Tablets, laptops and desktops??

Hey Guys, What you all think about new Microsoft Surface Tablet? Is it a laptop or just a tab?...
Yeah i Loved the style and look of Windows !! It looks awsome...This could score points than other OS..
except metro.
i am using final version.
Faster os. boots in just 15 sec.
I kind of like it but no aero and metro UI are making me a bit hesitant.
LOL no aero meetdilip you havent seen windows 8 fully yet
and its called the modern UI metro is for mobile they looks same but they are not
Windows 8 is a next gen OS its boots fast as our legendry windows 95, 2000,98, me
I have tried CP, RP and RTM. It is for tablets but we can customize it for desktop.
LOl try that much? still you havent get it
windows 8 is for desktops too buts to gets its full exp you must have a touch screen moniter which costs no much how ever depends on diff type user how ever its approved for gaming windows 8 is way better than any windows in the history
I would personally never use a touch screen for my desktop. I feel like throwing up thinking about the idea of having to raise my arm to touch the screen to launch an application as opposed to clicking away with a mouse. What do you guys think about having a touch screen for a desktop computer?

IT SUCKS! I will stay with windows 7 for a long time
I spend Rs1999 to upgrade my windows 7 to 8 and now I have come back to windows 7 again after using 8 for about 3-4 days. I will never use windows 8. I am not a noob and have been using windows OS since the 90's and never have Microsoft come out with such a useless brick before. Windows 8 is "not" meant for desktop computers without a touch screen and even with a touch screen what would you really do with it? May be a 90 years old would find it easier to use being able to touch and everything but for some one who uses a computer for work or even simple things like browsing the net, trading on the stock market or chatting its just not worth it. Windows 8 is a failed attempt towards creating an Android like OS but Microsoft forgot to tell customers that its a waste of time and money if you dont have a touch screen.
Something as simple as having a calculator on your browser is a mission impossible. There may be ways to do it but I couldnt do it and I need a calculator at all times and I couldnt bring it up using their crappy apps from the store and what not and top piss me off furthur they have an option to upgrade the "calculator" for a "charge" Oh well... You can keep it I am back to windows 7 and I if Microsoft doesnt come back to senses I will start using something open source.
What a waste of Rs1999 and a complete waste of 3-4 days.
Thanks Admin for sharing your experience with Win 8.
From the day i saw win 8 i understood that its not going to make a market.
I've haven't think of installing it, but after reading your review, i'll never go for this.
I'm fine with win 7.
r u sikh?
Windows 8 is not good for computer without touchscreen but you can run Windows 7 Apps in "Desktop Mode" app.
Finally Windows 8 is bad for me, I will stick with XP![]()
naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ,,,,,,,,,,,,
No time for me to learns its shortcuts so no
yes i like windows8 too much i am using win8.......
Now, Win 8 is a bit more stable than the older beta versions... So, sure I do like it a lot better now and have been using it for more than a year, including it's pre releases...
I dont like Windows 8 atall! I think the whole concept and design of it doesnt look good, I still prefer Windows 7. It may be because im used to the classic design of Windows and Windows 8 is at times a bit complicated.
I was working in win 7 and install win 8 as dual boot but didn't like the user interface and back to win 7
but after some time i think to give it a try again and now it is awesome and i am addicted to it ... best window version after xp and 7
as a developer and tester i re-install my windows every month for speed
but in win 8 i have only 8 sec boot up time and 3 sec shutdown time (600% faster than win7 ) even after one month and many software installed
Just give it little time to understand
It have very good graphics but still it will lag behind as its structure is best for touch phones than pc
I hate it. The only thing I find nice about it is that it is lite and boots faster than Windows 7. It is good for touch screen devices though.
I bought the upgrade for windows 8 long time ago as you must have seen from my previous post in this thread but I hated it so much that I vowed not to use it in this life time. I now hear good things about the 8.1 update and thought I would give it a try as I already have a license any way so I have upgraded to Windows 8 pro again and my windows 8.1 update is downloading as I type. I find windows 8 less annoying this time as I already knew what to expect so not too bad so far. I still hate the apps concept and especially paid apps! Thats so not Indian.
I should have my 8.1 update downloaded by this morning. My cable wala paid a personal visit this evening to ask me "Sir ji aapka router kahin hack to nahi ho gaya kyonki 6GB ek hi din mein?"
I told him politely that I pay for an unlimited connection and that is how I am going to treat it.. "unlimited"Then I told him ki bhiya windows 8 update download kiya tha thats why so much data download so dont worry about it.
Lets see how good or bad windows 8.1 pro isNot a too long left before I find out. My download is 36% complete so hopefully by tomorow morning I would have my download completed. Its a 1.5 Mbps connection
Gives me full speed but 1.5mbps speed still sucks, I would rather have a 50Mbps connection if I had a choice. I have an MTS connection which would probably download a lot faster but that would cost me data so I am going to use the unlimited connection for this download as there is no urgency.
Any one else using 8.1 pro version? Please share your experiences.
My 8.1 upgrade is complete and I can safely say that I dont mind using windows 8.1 but I still hate the app conscept. Opening a website in a browser is still the best way to see content. I also cant figure out a way to get a calculator like we have in windows 7, if you know how to get that please let me know.

I freind of mine had the same problem a few weeks ago when he was new to windows 8 and when he asked me " how to get calculator here? I laughed like an idiot lol"
U can try the same link he tried http://www.7tutorials.com/introducin...or-how-find-it
Desire is the cause of suffering in Life.
Ha ha ha
I know where to find it and how to create a shortcut but I cant get it in a floating window on top of an open browser window so I can move it around like we are able to do in windows 7.
Any ideas?
Windws 8 is good, but I would rather stick to my Windows XP as I am using a desktop. If I had a tablet then I think Windows 8 would be the best option.
For tablets Android is a lot better option.
@Admin
If you find out how to get a floating calculator working on windows 8.1 then please let me know too. I have been looking for a solution too but gave up and bought a hand held large calculator instead.
@Rishabh
It tool me two days to find out where the calculator wasNow the problem is I want it on top of my browser window not on the side. Any solution?
I am still strugling to get my calculator to work like it does on windows 7![]()
Windows 8 is hard to use. There are too many widgets and apps which makes it confusing to get what you want. I prefer Windows 7, where everything was in place. I hope Windows 10 will prove to be better.
Well I liked Windows 8 more or less! It's a bit confusing and complex to use at the begining, it seems a completely different Operating System than all the other Windows OS! But they said that they intended to do a test with this one, but it didn't quite succeeded because most of the people didn't adapted to it and quit it. I adapted to it quite easily but I still prefer the previous versions for sure, are much more user friendly! They should keep to that model and don't change it a lot like they did with WIn8, glad they went back to older versions with the 10!
I once had a laptop that had windows 8. It was too complicated to use and I hated it. I prefer Windows 7.

I am not alone in my dislike for windows 8, my parent's dislike it too.
I hate it because of one feature that it tried shoving on people's collective throats. The Metro! I hate that feature so much that when I was given the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10, I never hesitated to say yes. The Metro is one unnecessary and unwanted bloatware makes me really mad. The large icons are very much an eyesore and it makes me feel like I am using a giant tablet instead of a PC. I wish there is a way to skip it back then but I have to go through that gate of hell every time I turn on my computer. I am really glad that this useless feature is finally removed in Windows 10.
Personally I think that Microsoft took a step back when they introduced Windows 8 and while it's not a bad OS, it didn't move forward as much as what people wanted it to, and if your a happy Windows 7 user, there wasn't much point in upgrading.
I was never a fan of Windows 8 and avoided it like the plague. While Windows 8.1 was an improvement and I like it's performance, I was never keen on the Metro Windows layout. I do understand that folks with touch screens and tablets do enjoy these. However, on a typical desktop environment they are not very useful. That's why I'm glad that Microsoft is giving users the choice to go with the layout they prefer in Windows 10.
Not at all. The worst Microsoft's operating system is Windows 8. The metro is just awful. Playing games on Windows 8, for me, was terrible. What I like about Windows 8 is the new BSOD screen.
Windows 8 is a reason why I think that Windows 10 is the same crap...
I love my windows 8 I have no problem with it. I really do not like the windows 10, I will only be using windows 8 or 7.
Everyone have their preference and windows 8 is mine.
Windows 10 may not be perfect but it is 10 times better than Windows 8. I really regreted upgrading to Windows 8 before. The damn Metro is really annoying and I hated dealing with it everytime I turn on my PC. It is hard to skip it.
Windows 10 is much better for me. On Windows 8, I dislike the menu that pops up and covers the entire screen when I just hit the Windows key. In Windows 10, it just shows the task bar, very discretely, for example to lower the volume if I'm using a full screen application. In Windows 8, there is no toolbar! At least not in any version of Windows 8 I tried. Also, Windows 10 boots very fast on my laptop, whereas Windows 8 is the slowest I've ever tested.
I really hated Windows 8. First, that look to the tiles, just terrible. Second, it does not change anything in relation to performance when compared to Windows 7. Now I am considering leaving Windows 7, because the windows 10 is incredible.
I had been hearing a lot of positive things about Windows 10 but I am so sick of encountering BSOD and Infinite Loop. I encountered both errors in every incarnation of Windows I used. I am now considering to use Linux.
Windows 8 was a complete failure so soon they released an improved version, ie Windows 8.1.
Windows 8 was pretty good but microsoft improved with the windows 10.
Windows 8 confuses me a little, it has its good points but also has many bad points. I think his weakest point is the aesthetics of the windows, because it has too many windows, is too stuffy and crowded for a new user. Apart became very complicated to find a way into the programs.
This windows looks like it was made for computers with touch screen, not for computers without a touchscreen, no doubt about that they thought that all users would use in its touch screen, but the reality is that not everyone can afford a screen like that. I did not seem a bad widows to me, except because of its adaptability. In my opinion the best XP and 7 will be forever and ever.
I was reluctant to change to windows 8, as I loved windows 7, so simple and easy to navigate and use,but I had to get with times and suck it all up and get to using the new windows, which I don't regret, windows 8 was a burst, but it was a stepping stone for windows and I know with more versions in future they'll only get better.
