Default Which Browser do you use and why?

I have been using Firefox for God knows how many years. I cant even remember when I started but all I know is that it has been Firefox for me all these years. I was going through the stats of visitors to this forum and found that the most used browser now is Chrome. It used to be IE the last time I spent some time with the stats So you can imagine I havent been looking for years.

I tried Chrome for two days and I like what I see. I am going to convert to Chrome

The main reason is that I search a lot on Google and Chrome is a lot more quicker to open a page when you click on a search result as compared to Firefox. That is what I have experienced. I am using Google Chrome now and loving the experience.

Please select the option in the polls as well please and do post why you use the browser you do, since when have you been using and have you ever tried Chrome if you are not using it?

Do let me know if you want me to add another browser that I may have missed out on.

I use Google Crome. I find its a faster browser than the others, and plus when I start my computer and open the browser the tabs which I had opened before shutting down reopen without me having to think what sites I had opened.

I use two browsers Firefox and Safari. There was only one option to choose from so chose Firefox.

I mainly use Firefox, but if for some reason its slow I turn to Safari, which actually is quite a fast browser.

I use Chrome for my official work..and Firefox for other browsing activities. Main reason is to keep both the stuff separate and help me concentrate on one job at a time!

Another reason is that I've heard Chrome sends too much data to Google and I want to minimize my browsing activities data (which involves sending automated queries to Google and other blackhat methods sometimes) to be sent to Google.

Sometimes I do use IE 10 to access Google.co.in ; My other browsers are set for google.com

I use Google Chrome the most than others because i have saved lots of Password and Autofills in this browser....so I can't leave this browser....I think that Google Chrome is not perfect because it somethimes do not even load the page and we have to refresh the page to load.....But Mozilla is the perfect browser it didn't give a single problem....the only thing is that it loads the pages a little bit slow than Google Chrome but also loads the pages More Perfect than other browsers.

    In my Point Of View.
    Google Chrome - Fast Browsing
Mozilla Firefox - Perfect and Reliable Browser
Other Browsers - Juts For Fun.

I use Firefox mainly because I can browse the pages I have visited offline too. Chrome doesn't have this feature.

I've been using Firefox for a very long time. But Chrome has been my main browser for the past 3 years. I primarily use it because it's a very slick and fast browser. A few companies I do contract work for also prefer that I use Chrome whenever I log onto their sites.

Don't get me wrong, I still think that Firefox is a great browser. I don't think users should ever rely on a single browser. Have at least 2 available for your browsing needs. At this point in time, I can't think of better browsers than Chrome and Firefox.

I use Opera. Because it has used less memory than others browsers. Moreover, my laptop is old with a basic system. I am very adapted with Opera Interface and the nice system of bookmarks.
Today, Opera is considered a competitor to match its competitors in the fight for leadership in the web, competing against Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. The biggest browser differential is the marking system, which expands the usability of the tool.

Initially I was using Google Chrome, but when I realized that it eats up my CPU memory substantially I switched over to Mozilla Firefox. After some time I tried Opera too but my experience was not quite good. Opera opens up a number of .exe files in the background which results in a slow PC. Now I am again back to Firefox and I am happy to use Firefox without any major issues. My experience with Opera was not so good. However, I will never use Google Chrome again as it nearly freezes my PC. I heard that the new Microsoft Internet Explorer is a good bet to try

Firefox is always my preference. I tried many browsers, but my favorite is Firefox. First thing I like about Firefox is, it is non-profit organization. It is always up-to-date, fast and runs with minimal resources (CPU usage, RAM memory).

The only con about Firefox is its popularity. As you know, hackers always focus on popular things. So, even though Mozilla is secure and reliable, it is always the primary target for hackers.

I've used a number of browsers over the years but at the moment I'm using Google chrome across all my devices.

While I'm sure there might be better browsers out there, chrome is the one that suits my needs the most, and while it still does, I've no reason to change

Maxthon is faster than Chrome and Firefox but I guess people haven't discovered this hidden treasure. Maxthon can continue corrupted downloads and it runs faster too. It has built in adblocker for YouTube!

I really like the download manager in Mozilla Firefox. It lets you resume your file download if it is stopped due to unexpected conditions like low network coverage or shutdown of computer etc. It is pretty fast too. I came to know of this wonderful feature from this forum only.

I don't think other browsers have this feature. I think those who are familiar with Firefox and its features will never leave it and go for another browser. Whatever it is, Mozillla Firefox is far better than Google Chrome by any means. I personally believe so.

Based from my own experience yes it has low memory usage. It also removes the spams and malicious results from Google search. So clickbait hoax sites like Kpopstarz will not show up on your Google search. I use it more for YouTube and downloading files.

Maxthon is a new a name for me. Thanks for sharing.

I read on Internet that Maxthon enables you to use multiple search engines simultaneously and will display the results side-by-side. I think that is a unique feature in Maxthon. It got a lot of positive reviews. It is very fast and it uses two builtin rendering engines, Webkit and Trident. I think it is most popular in China. One draw back is that it is filled with too many icons which may distract you, but it is highly customizable.

I will definitely give it a try once I am free of my WiFi issue.

Maxthon also have that feature, the only difference is that Maxthon is faster. I think it is the only browser in existence that blocks the annoying Youtube ads. It also saves me from those ads that are filled with malwares.

I mainly use google chrome, due to the very nice UI, and many addons and apps available for it. It is also mainly bug free, and very reliable. however, I sometimes use microsoft edge, as it's a very big improvement on the old and stale Internet Explorer, and it's also very fast and reliable, just like google chrome.

Google Chrome and Safari to me are the best browsers, and what I use, although I tend to lean more on the Chrome browser than any other.

I am a big fan of Mozilla Firefox, but there are situations when I am not able to use even Firefox due to low connectivity / network coverage. So currently I use K-Meleon which is pretty fast and also has a host of features which can be activated or deactivated from the browsing window itself. While downloading a file, it gives a detailed status of the download.

I think the only drawback is lack of animated graphics and I think that may be saving a lot of space to speed up. If you are more concerned with the speed and not with the graphics, I think K-Meleon is really good. Otherwise Firefox is the perfect all rounder.

I abandoned Chrome for Maxthon because Maxthon doesnt crash and it blocks many annoyances Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox can't. Chrome always corrupt large direct downloads. Firefox have tendencies to crash.

Google chrome also uses ALOT of RAM. Which is bad if you do lots of multitasking, and have a lot of tabs open at the same time, as your computer will be very slow. Windows edge became very good, and also efficient now.

Exactly, that is what I experienced too with Google Chrome. It freezes the entire computer and even my mouse pointer was moving erratically when I used Chrome. As I already said it opens multiple .exe files in the background and may be that is the reason why it is eating too much of memory. Opera also functions in the same manner. But still I wonder what is the need for opening multiple .exe files in the background? Perhaps it has something to do with online crashes.

I haven't tried Edge till now, but seen a number of good reviews about it. Does it work with Windows 7 or it is exclusively for Windows 10?

I think edge is exclusive to windows 10, as I had only got it after upgrading to windows 10. I also can't find any downloads for edge. I really recoend edge, as it never crashes now (unlike its predecessor, internet explorer.) And I actually think it's became more reliable than Google chrome.

I think the problem with Google chrome, is that the more tabs you open, the more RAM Will be taken up, meaning that it's bad if you are researching many things at once. edge in the other hand, seems not to impact performance when having a lot of tabs open (Atleast for me!)

I doubt edge will ever be released for OS other than windows. It's something exclusive to windows, and internet explorer was only available on windows aswell, therefore I doubt they will change their minds and release it for other OS.

I agree with you, Edge would remain on Microsoft products alone, so if you really want it as browser it's better to buy a windows phone that has windows 10 installed in it, just in case edge is a browser on it or get a windows phone that would allow the upgrade to windows 10.

For downloading music, movies and all that kind of stuff, I mostly prefer UC or Opera. Whereas, for any other purpose, I use Chrome or Firefox. Apart from these, I don't know much about other browsers.

With so many browsers being mentioned just on this thread alone, you'd think that one of the big companies would come along and make a browser that as all the capabilities that people need.

Recently, I reinstall Windows 7 home basic and I upgraded Internet Explorer to IE 11. So, IE 11 changed my concepts. It is true that IE 6..7..8 are terrible, but this last version of IE is nice. I do not answer about security if it is weak like others IE.

I think all versions of IE weren't very good, and couldn't compete with browsers such as chrome and mozzilla Firefox. However, with the new release of Microsoft edge, I think Microsoft can finally compete again. Edge has been amazing for me so far, and its been smoother than chrome in my opinion. It's a great browser.

Edge was made to compliment IE, so they had to work hard on IE in order for it to meet up to Windows 10, I haven't used IE in awhile so in don't know how it is, but I do use Edge once in awhile.

I heard a lot of positive reviews about Microsoft Edge, though I haven't used it yet. If it is compatible with Windows 7 I will definitely try it. As of now I am quite satisfied with Firefox and K-Meleon. Even though I do not like the graphics of K-Meleon, it is a great time saver and gives good speed in low network areas too.

I think Microsoft has worked well in developing Edge. As a matter of fact they are more concerned about Windows OS than IE browser where there is enough competition. As a computer OS Windows is still leading the show.

I have never heard of K-Melon browser before, is it any good? And as to what you said about Microsoft concentrating on the OS rather than browser, I agree, and I don't think that any other OS will ever take the lead away from Windows (at least on the PC) As many users are unprepared to try a new OS, and windows has become a standard for pretty much all PC's.

Well, currently I'm using Firefox and Google Chrome (I use 2 computers and they have different browsers). And I don't see any difference between them. They are both pretty good, and the interface/HUD is really similar, they copy eachother when they release new versions xD so it's almost the same...

It is the perfect browser for downloading and it is the best for Youtube because it blocks Youtube ads. If you download a large file with chrome and it suddenly stopped downloading while it is not yet complete, Your file will be corrupted. Redownloading and crossing your finger it won't get corrupted is your only choice. With Maxthon, downloading is much more faster and you can resume it if it stopped.

I think there are some tasks that is better for Chrome but Maxthon is best for downloading and streaming.

Mihailo, you have a good machine, don't you? I have a desktot with 4gb RAM DDR 3 and Chrome is consuming so much memory, I do not use chrome anymore, I prefer Opera.

I decided to quit Chrome after experiencing multiple crashes. It is way too memory heavy for some unknown reason. It is also not ideal for downloading because it has tendencies to corrupt downloads. I experienced a 99 percent 5 GB file getting corrupted and it sucks.

Same with me, I don't know why but I think that chrome has more hiden processes than Firefox, maybe that's why it's slower and crashes more on less capable computers!

Anyways, I'm using Firefox and I don't have any problems at all!

There's a chrome add-on that manages downloading and helps not corrupt a download if it stops, so you can restart it. Thanks for answering I'll check it out.

When you say restart you mean comes back from the start? if my file stops downloading at 98 percent, I want it to resume and not to stop. I think I will stick with Maxthon when it comes to downloading.

Nowadays I use K-Meleon which is really fast and not a resource hungry browser application. It has so many user friendly features too. As I have a poor network connection, I use K-Meleon for speedy Internet access. I also notice that while downloading files its speed is far better than many other popular browsers. But whenever I have to download a file I use Mozilla Firefox. Its download manager is very good as it allows download from the point it is stopped. I mean if your download gets interrupted in between you will be able to start it again from there in Firefox. That is a really very useful feature for me.

I think I will stick to Maxthon because I wont be needing an application for a download to continue. Chrome crashes a lot so I am done with it and it also requires a lot of memory. I am able to download a 2GB file with Maxthon for just 15 minutes.

I don't think a browser determines the speed and time a download takes place, I thibkbthat has to do with the network the person is using. I use ODM or torrents for huge files like that, don't trust any browser for that.

I do not believe browsers can influence in the download speed. Maybe, your chrome is with some issue that it is decreasing the download tax. Moreover, Chrome does not use problem with crash. However, I agree with you when you said about the amount of memory that Chrome requests.

I am using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Opera, but the best browser among these three browsers is Google Chrome because the loading of the page is faster than the other two. Another thing is that Google Chrome has a lot of extensions that can be used in the browser. Some web pages is not compatible with Mozilla Firefox and Opera, but most web pages are compatible with Google Chrome.
