    Default Upgrade to windows 10

My system configuration is Windows 8.1 Pro upgraded from OEM windows 7 home premium(All genuine).
    Processor-Intel core 2 duo P8700 2.53 GHz.
    Memory-4GB.
    Graphics NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 230M.
    Laptop- Sony vaio VPCCW16FG
I have installed all the available windows update.
Now windows 10 to get application is showing Geforce GT 230M is not compatible with windows 10. Windows 8.1 is running smoothly.
Any solution or help from expert to install win 10 will be appreciated. Thanks.

Nvidia stops releasing new drivers for legacy products and I doubt if they would work on this. Not much we can do about this apart from trying an older driver for windows 7 and see if that takes you through the upgrade.

From what I read windows 10 does support nvidia GT 230:

Only problem is you may have to install drivers separately.

If you don't get updated to windows 10 automatically through windows update, please download an ISO from its website and update your existing windows. Drivers for the graphic card can be installed later by d/ling from the nvidia website. If still doesn't work, you can always go back to windows version you had earlier. I believe that it will work without any problem.

i got the same error on my even older laptop (has nvidia gefore go 7400). fortunately nvidia still has drivers for it (as admin wrote, till win 7), and windows 8.1 automatically downloaded and installed them for me.

I upgraded to Windows 10 I honestly dont see any difference in the way my system behaves. I like the old start button from windows 7 and older in its new avatar. I dont feel any difference in response times for different applications as was being claimed. The new/old browser edge hangs on me some times for a few seconds.

'internet explorer' is an abomination, and a blot on the name of web-browsers! i feel they deliberately made it that way for whatever reason(s). was hoping 'edge' to be atleast like the new-age browsers (also saw MS claiming better results on speedtests compared to other browsers).

i had begun backing-up the contents of my laptop, to install Win 10. if nothing more then would feel like still being on Win 8.1 with some UI-changes. but probably with time we may get to see some good things.

I just finished upgrading to Windows 10 and like it very much except the browser edge which is a disappointment. This browser hangs and is also slower then other slow browser and no where as fast as Chrome.

You cannot really match the speed of Chrome with other browsers. The reasons are many and this is not the thread for that but yes I have also experienced that Edge hangs a little. I cannot click on anything for 2-3 seconds some times when I re open one of its tabs. Microsoft has to leave their trade mark some where in every thing they do.

I have not yet upgraded to Windows 10. Right now I am using Windows 7 and it is not because my computer cannot handle the latest OS. In fact, I prefer Windows 7 than Windows 8. Regardless, Windows 10 brought back some of the features that were missing from Windows 7 in Windows 8 and made a better hybrid version. I am waiting for the second Windows 10 version to be released in October so that I can upgrade. My dad used to tell me, never buy the first early models of new released car but wait for the 2nd or 3rd improved models. OS are not any different.

ever since i upgraded to Win 10 (two days back), can't log in to this forum. when i click on 'login', the display just dims like the login pop-up has come up, but it can't be seen on the screen. this is on 'edge' and 'chrome'. looks like the browsers are disabling pop-ups. but can't find the setting to enable them.
