Default How Many years do you think we will wait for before the Microsoft replaces Windows 10

I remember many Windows 8 users got upset when Windows 10 got announced that's why to appease them from their anger, They were given Windows 10 as a free update. The owners of Windows 7 also got offered with that update too. How Many years do you think is left before they decide to create Windows 11 or whatever it's name going to be. Do you think Windows 10 will at least last 3 years before Microsoft decides to make a new version of their OS?

What do you think will be the features of the Future Windows OS?

I think Microsoft will come out with updated version very soon as Windows 10 is being successful as a mobile OS too. Windows 10 is being used in Chinese models like Xiaomi which is a good sign for them. I think any future version of Windows will be more mobile friendly which is the future. Also they will give focus on incorporating more apps than ever before. Another factor will be mobile security. They will try to come out with a near perfect OS which can give them an edge over other mobile OS.

So, I think their focus will on mobiles and smartphones than computers. They are already leading the show in computer OS market.

Yes, you are true! but I believe that Microsoft will regret its decision about it. It is very lucrative and interesting to launch a new OS to change interface. Moreover, It will be necessary to change firmware and anotheer settings. This is my opinion. Unless, Microsoft will do it with big updates

I also would be surprised if Microsoft stayed true to its word, and I think in a few years, after a few updates there isn't another OS brought out to replace Windows 10.

There's only so many updates they can do I would have thought before they would have to look at a new OS.

Oh, that is good in some way as we don't have to change the OS time and again. Thanks for the update.

I think they will give more focus on updating the mobile interface than computers though. But I doubt if they keep their words in true spirit? They will be forced to change it future. May be they will launch something else in another brand name, we cannot rule out any possibility.

I will be happy if that is true because they had broken so many promises before. I am a bit skeptical about this promise.

You are right. They have to break this if they want to survive in OS market. As competition is very stiff and companies introduce new concepts every day, they cannot just sit idle only issuing updates to an old OS. Moreover, there is still very good scope for mobile OS which they should definitely try.

I think they will not be releasing any futture version in the name of Windows, but in some other fancy name. This makes them safe at every end.

When Microsoft announced that Windows 10 would become a Windows as a Service model, rumors started surfacing that, even though the company promised to supply Windows 10 for free to eligible recipients, customers would have to start paying for it eventually. And, while the book isn't exactly closed on that, Gabe Aul was asked on Twitter recently about a potential for a yearly subscription fee for Windows.

    Here's what Gabe answered…

@briguy943 "Windows as a service" just means that we'll continuously keep it up to date. There is no ongoing fee.

Nobody knows exactly what Microsoft will be doing in future ! I believe that they will launch future Windows as a subscription-based service. They already have Office 365, initial payment is less, but then you have to keep on paying for yearly subscription !

I think if Microsoft could release regular updates and improvements to Windows 10 that would be enough. So the only difference will be the absence of version numbers. There will be only one 'Windows 10', but with regular upgrading. I think that could be a nice strategy though. Finally it may narrow down to mere "Windows" as a brand without any version numbers.

I believe Microsoft would give more focus on developing the mobility part of Windows which is the future. We can expect more updates in Windows 10 as a mobile operating system. The company wanted to raise it like 'Windows as a Service' in future.

I do really hope that they will not break their promise that Windows 10 is the final version and it will just get updates. One of the updates I want them to have is a total solution to damn Blue screen of death and infinite loop. Those things should be gone forever.

You are right. We can see a lot of reviews in these lines on net. They will be promoting Windows as a brand and version numbers will not be of any significance in future. As I said they wanted to grow Windows as a free service than a paid service. But I doubt how far that will go. How will they find the revenue to keep the business running? I am pretty sure that they have some hidden plans which they will only disclose at the right time.

Yes, as you mentioned Blue Screen of Death is a big drawback and that has to be removed at any cost. The worst part is that we will never know what cause it initially.

There are still people who said they still encounter the Blue screen of death with Windows 10. Sometimes a single update will overwhelm the system and these errors will start terror.

I read that Windows 10 is the latest Microsoft's operating system. I would like to see Windows 11 but I want to see it like Windows 7. That is my favorite OS.

I have a lot of problems with Windows 7 but my experience with 7 is not as terrible as my experience with Vista and 8. Windows 8 is the worst incarnation of Windows since Vista.

There are recent report of complaints that Microsoft edge crashes a lot.

Well, I would say around 5 years as worst case scenario

This Windows 10 is really good and almost fully stable and functional. Just a few more well done patches/updates and you got a stable and fully operational Operating System

All they need to do is to put BSOD deleted out of existence. They must stop whatever causes this annoying enigma that windows users have to deal with since the early days. If Windows 10 is really the final OS, I wonder how many update it is going to have.

I don't think that there will be a "Final" Operating System, there is always new things to put in the OS there is always small stuff that needs to be improved. I believe that there may be some Operating Systems like Windows XP or Windows 7 that are really good and they will last a long time before they are replaced!

Nowadats I still see loads of people using Windows XP, the problem is that that Operating System is associated with older machines so people think that Windows XP itself is slow, but that's wrong. It's problem is that there are better operating systems like Windows 7 and Windows 10 and people need to improve! That's all, Windows XP was a "final" operating system in it's time being. Windows VIsta and Windows 8 were far from that. But this is just my personal opinion, I'm not an expert!

I think what Microsoft is planning to have is to brand Windows as a single operating system and they are no more interested in version numbers. So we can call all Windows versions as mere Windows and Microsoft will give all necessary updates for that in times to come. In fact there is no point in giving various version numbers. Windows will be a success as long as they can keep pace with the changing technology and competition around them. Nowadays Linux is also becoming popular as an operating system and their Ubuntu is being used widely by many people around the world.

I guess it would be better if they just make it user friendly and free of bugs.
