Configuring LinkSys WRT54A+G with BSNL UT300R2U modem

hi,

I would like to setup my LinkSys router to the UT300R2U mode. My internet connection works when connected my laptop directly to Modem through Ethrenet cable. Then i strated configuring router with Modem and could not get this working.

My LinkSys router settings are

I setup router for PPPoE connection, entered user name and password and enabled DHCP. After setting all these i restarted my modem and router and saw my wireless connection was working. After sometime it stopped working and i tried setting up but no use. When i checked the status in the router it some times shows all zeros (or) some ip address and DNS server but looks to me they are not real (also internet was not working this time).

I have not setup anything in my laptop i.e. TCP/IP settings for both LAN and Wireless. Without all these it was working fine with HAthway internet connection earlier.

Thanks for the setup document. I read through the document but steps are not suitable for me. I have already setup modem by BSNL guy and it was working greatly.

Rest i followed the same steps as given in the document but could not get my router working correctly.

Again i configured router with PPPoE connection by entering username and password. I did not change my router ip and default gateway. They are 192.168.1.1 and 255.255.255.0.

I had two SSIDs with security enabled as WPA personal.

Desperately waiting for trouble shooting my router.

Appriciate any help in this regard.

have you connected cable from LAN port of modem to LAN port of wifi router?

hi,
everyone. i m using bsnl braodband 500c home plan. at da first time da installation was done by bsnl officer....that time, connection speed was really very gud....
but now i hav a problem...2 days ago i hav formatted my hard drive nd now if i plug in da modem (UT300R2U), at da tool bar, da connection shows, "you hav either disconnected or limited network access"!
after trying 2 connect and when i failed, i did one more mistake...i reset da modem to its factory settings by pressing RESET key!!!!!!!!
soon after this i m facing another problem.....its strange....
all i know s dat 2 connect 2 net, i need an account in network connection nd hav 2 click connect 2 get connect 2 net....but even i don get da msg "broadband connected", i m able 2 surf da net....
i cant blv it? wats happening? da speed s also gud.... nd i can c dat all 4 lights r on almost remain on but sometimes DATA light gets on nd off.....
nd after reading all dat given in pdf notes nd trrying 2 set connection by installing da cd i got, i finally got one thing clear "i cant do it"..............
so plz help me..............

Appears you are connected in "Always On " mode.
( YOUR USERID and PW are NOW now entered inside the modem >
So no need to enter ID pW etc in computer "dialer" window to connect.

What do you want to do now ?

thanx 4 da reply.....but i don knw wat i hav done now? evan yestday i once again installed windows...nd this time i used da cd dat i got wit da modem....it was very helpful at da begining nd as soon as it asks me 2 input my usernem nd my phone number(land line), few moments after it says, connection lost, no power in modem(but lights r blinking), may be firewall interrupting wit da installation, nd i hav 2 quit da installation....next i again went reset da modem by pressing reset key for 10 sec..next i typed 192.168.1.1 at IE, nd i got da adsl router page, i chose "edit", for da first connection set, among da first 7....next i did as everybody on this blog said....but again i m not able dial da connection, but da net is connecting...this time its very slow.....
my bittorrent speed is only 20 kb now b4 it was 248 kb???????
i m totally messed up....i m waiting 4 ur reply.....plzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me..........
